    Aftermarket Bimini for 2007 20v

I tried for a couple of hours today to put the bimini on my 2007 20v. After stripping most of the screws and cussing up a storm I came to the conclusion that it is a colossal piece of crap. Are there any after market biminis that anyone has came across?

What screws are you stripping out??? the bimini uses all ball sockets and pins. Ive got an 07 20V on the lot, i'll take some pics of the bimini up and stowed if you like. It works alot like the 06's.

There are screws with black end knobs that fasten some of the pole ends to the tower. If the pole end does not line up perfectly, which is tough given the tension, it strips and bends the screw. It might be the most cumbersome bimini I have come across. You should not need directions to set one up.

I agree about the crappy design and if I'm not mistaken they changed this design for 08... I have the same bimini and I have a little system to get it on and now it's not as big a deal...

I had those screws on the 24Ve that I own. They did the same thing. IMO, shotty engineering.

you could go to your locak hardware store and get some new screws and handles.
I had to get some for my towerbiminis.com tower cause dropped one in lake.
                  it cost about $8 bucks.

I was going to try that but it bends the screws every time. It gets a little expensive after a while.

Pull the bimini down really hard from the front to the point you think you're going to bend the top but you're able to screw them in very easily...

My 06 uses those screws, 2 on each side to mount the bimini frame to the tower, but I dont have to touch them in order to deploy or store the bimini.

                          Totally agree

I totally agree with you, the bimini is like trying to untie a triple throw down double decker knot in the dark!!!! It can be done, but only after alot of headache and sore fingers. I only use mine when it is just way too hot without it. Good luck!!!!
You have to fake it if you want to make it!!!

Reminds me of an old Neigborhood cartoon where they show some guy in contortions in front of a computer screen with a caption that reads:

"Roy didn't notice that someone had accidentally included the instructions for Twister in his set-up manuals."
Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

                              Just chiming in.
I have the 07 and the Bimini is a disaster. I had mine replaced by the dealer because of bent poles. I will be putting an after market on mine soon.
