    New Tige Ballast system?

I have heard a rumor that Tige is going to implement a new ballast system that will fill within 15 seconds and drain about just as fast.

    I think that sounds awesome!!!!!!!!

I would want to know more about it and how big it will be and if it will take up any of the storage space and what kind of problems might be expected with it.

    Anyone know anthing?

Ya it's 1 foot plug in the middle of your boat, pull and fill. They are still working out the drain details.

I don't know if that is true, you would need roughly 9,000 GPH pumps to fill them up that fast. That would be insane if it was true though.

Someone I know patented a hull design that does that. Maybe they finally found someone to listen. It sounded pretty awesome. It was made for surfing.

Automated door opens up in the bottom of the boat, fills the hull up with water, then pumps pump it out. Don't know the draining would be that fast though.

Wait... isn't the Epic like this?

Calabria's works like that. From their website:

First, Calabria has taken the best functioning ballast system in the Towboat market, and upsized the ballast to over 1000 lbs. Filling in just over one minute, your ballast will be full by the time you figure out who is riding next. Unlike other ballast systems, Calabria Boats uses a gravity fed system to fill the fiberglass in-floor ballast system. No pumps to burnout or clog up with debris. The advantage to the in-liner ballast system is no oversized fat sacks to take up all of your rear storage compartments. It doesn’t do any good to have a boat full of friends, and having to leave your gear on the shoreline due to lack of storage.

What if you sealed off the area between the stringer and the hull and the wall with a roof (the floor of the boat) to make a compartment that is entirely air tight except for a single vent hose. Then you make a 3-4 inch hole with some sort of gate valve on it in the bottom of the boat. When you stop the boat in the water, flip the valve and boom! in 20 seconds that compartment would be full. In order to empty, you just do the same thing, but do it with the boat on plane, and the water will fall out the bottom just as quickly.

Tige could just put one of each of these on each side of the boat , and you would quickly have ballast city.

I dont even need to it to fill that fast. I would just like tige to offer more weight for their ballast systems. I found that my wake is perfect with around 2K pounds of ballast, but thats just me I would like tige to have a system that had atleast 1500 lbs.

I could tell you...but then I would have to kill you. J/K

My biggest concern with this thing is that Tige will do it and give us a nice rapid 300 pounds of ballast in each side. Big whoopee. It needs to add up to at least 1000 pounds to be effective.

I agree with CP3, we will need more than just a little ballast, although most guys will never know how to use 2K in ballast. Those guys can figure out how to get the rest themselves.

Interesting stuff..........It truely is a very small world. I know and happened to speak to the guy who invented and patended the Calabria Ballast System a couple of days ago. By chance he told me his was visiting the Tige Boat factory.

I did not ask why he was there. But now I see that 1 + 1 = 2. I would
guess that Tige is looking at intergrating that system into their boats.

Good for Tige...it is a good system.
