How accurate are the depth finders?

Just a little paranoid after dinging my prop. I believe the transducer is relatively the same height as the prop. Anybody ever verify the accuracy?

Once you calibrate where you want zero to be, mine is pretty accurate
    Let it be!!!

Mine is very accurate. I have never had it calibrated. I must be lucky it was right on when I got it. It even reads good when out of the water.
        Be excellent to one another.

Aren't the transducers epoxied to the hull in the bilge area. This reduces the oof the shelf accuracy and requies that they be tweaked,

Mine was spot on right out of the box. Installed it about 2 years ago after hitting a hidden sand bar when the lake was low.

Do you have to drill any holes in the boat or how is the transducer attached to the hull? Do you attach it to the inside of the hull? Thanks.

If you get a puck style transducer, you can just epoxy it to the hull. See my thread in the General Technical Questions forum for more details on how to mount a puck style transducer to the inside of your hull.

If I'm not mistaken, the Triducer that Tige hasd been using for a few yrs now is the speed, depth, and water temp. Std on all but the Z1. So no puck glued to the hull.

I have a 1999 without a depth gauge and think it would come in handy this summer... I would love to have water temp, air, and depth in one gauge but I think that might require some drilling.

You're right if it is a factory depth sounder. Normaly they will register the depth from the bottom of the hull, not the water surface.
Indecision may or may not be my problem

I have the same year model boat and probably a very similar dashboard. My depth gauge is installed to the right of my TAPS gauge and to the left of the AC adapter plug. it's a Hummingbird.

This is a picture of my dash... pretty different. I might have to look at adding a new hole next to the stereo remote, just above where the tige logo is on the bottom right.

Looks like you might have some room in front of the dash for a surface mounted graph-style depth finder. That might be easier to mount.
