sorry to hear about your problems. However, Tige's gelcoat is a 1 year warranty unless it's a 2008 model which have a 3 year warranty.

As for the trailer, not sure how bad things are looking.

I would definitely take jason up on that offer. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.. I had a few issues with my gelcoat on my 24Ve that I have taken care of 4 months ago and got the same response from Tige that they would not cover it. Mine wasn't bubbles but cracks that I had fixed.

I'll bet that most of that trailer rust is because of saltwater. I know alot of guys down get aluminum trailers. Spharis has a writeup on one on his site here

So if you get Jason to help you with the gelcoat....$150. Find some decent indoor/outdoor carpet for the bunks $100 (at the very most) you're all set for $250. Then take the rest of the cash you were gonna give the dealer to fix the gelcoat and go get yourself one of them aluminum trailers.....you'll be all set!!
Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

jleger98 don't bet to much boat has never seen salt water because i tell my kids it will rust the sh-- out of the trailer go figure (the only water it has seen is river it is stored in garage and not taken out in rain)
I will probably sand trailer, paint it, hope dealer does not take boat off trailer(so he can't see bubbles)when i trade it for something other than a tige.

that sucks!!! ...trailer board carpet holds water.water gets under paint.trailer starts to rust. I see this all the time at my shop. the trailer mfg's use low quality cheap materials to paint there trailers. they only need to look good long enough to sell the thing! at my shop we would re-do the carpeted bunks w/ marine carpet for trailer bunks that wont hold water!!! we would sandblast trailer & seal w/acrylic urathane direct to metal sealer. we would then paint w/2-part urathane paint.5-year guaranty!... cost at about $1500.
It sounds like the bunks under the boat also are holding water and blistering the gel coat.
tige needs to help in some way w/ ths issue!

Tube trailers should not be produced for the price they are sold for. Be sure to go galvanized or aluminum next time if you live in the southeast.

No shop is going to try to fix that because the inside of those tubes look 100x worse than what you see on the fender joints. Check around your brake line holes. You might try to sell that trailer on ebay, you'd be suprised what you get, and use that to pick up a much better aluminum trailer.

I have seen this type of rust on all manufacturers trailers and not to mention there is salt in the air in Florida. It would be nice if Tige steps up on the gelcoat issue. However, I am sure if something is out of warranty like this on any boat including the big three your going to get the same song and dance. Check out Malibucrew and MC owners board etc heard lots of bitching about warranty issue problems with MC and BU. Sounds like the roller bunks in florida might be a good idea. Just noticed bunks on my jet ski were full of sand as well. Good luck and you might want to try and give FIC a call see what Dom might can do to help you. Have heard some negative stuff about the Tige dealer in your area.

I hope the gelcoat issues are taken care of, I know a few other people that have battle blisters on their boats, not fun.

As far as the trailer, even though you are using it in "fresh water", you are using it in Florida, almost all bodies of "fresh water" have high salinity levels. Seeing that you are in Deland, if you are using the St John's river, or any body of water near it then there is definitely high salt levels. With the drought Florida has experienced for the past several years, the high mineral content left in the water has made the the freshest springs salty. I work with the St John's river water mgmt district and the fact that they have seen so much of the eel grass die off is a dead giveaway that the mineral levels are up, especially salt. I have seen lots of painted trailers looking quite rusty that were only used in lakes and rivers. Just another labor of love when it comes to owning a boat I have been launching with my dorsey for about two years in straight up saltwater and it looks like I'll be getting an aluminum trailer later this year. I tried to sell the dorsey when we first got the boat, but no one even called about it after two weeks so I gave up.

I am hoping that Dorsey will step up to the plate and fix or make offer to had repair localy( i will have to do it my self but atleast the will share $$). I replaced the bunks yesterday that carpet was crap. Bought marine grade from repair shop $36.00 everthing was easy except removal of staples pain in the a--. I was hoping to remove side panels by fender well and clean up rust and replace side panel with alum. plates but after starting to tear apart fender are really really rust so may have to cut off and weld new pcs on and get repainted. i think that i will sell it at that time because 2 yrs from now same thing.
I will keep you guys up do date --worse thing about the whole deal no boat and it was 90 yesterday and we on its way there today. Maybe i will do yard work ?????????????

I bought my boat in early august last year brand new, brought it back early september because my dorsey trailer is rusting in the same places, not that bad yet but the dealership took pictures then and havent heard back, checked the warranty card and it says they dont cover corrosion, glad i just paid 3500 for a piece of crap trailer, i have had 2 heritage trailers under both bajas i have owned, had on three years and it looked brand new when it got traded in

Wow that sucks! I also have a dorsey trailer and the rust is awful. Was going to try spraying it with a rust rejuvinator - have had really good luck with it in the past. Just takes time to do.

Anyone recommend an online resource for bunk carpet? Stuff I have found is really expensive!
