They are just another nuisance to society. They ruin a lot of things and are very destructive.

Our lake here in the Denver Metro area is getting aggressive about it this year. Your boat will be tagged coming off the lake and if that tag is broken coming back in, your boat sits in quarantine for 5-10 days before it's allowed back on the water. That'll put a dampener on those weekend get-a-ways!!

They haven't figured out what to do about the ballast systems yet. Rumor has it they may not allow boats with ballasts on the water next year as the only true form to control a wet environment inside your boat. I’m glad I opted out of the factory installed system if that holds true!

wow those are some pretty serious measures they are taking. Are their currently mussels in your lake?

              balair,

If your asking me that question, no, no mussels yet. They are trying hard to keep it that way as it is a primary drinking water source for 3 cities. My understanding was that the water board was within days of simply not allowing boats, period. The only reason I own a boat is to be on that lake. Everything else here is either a haul or too crowded!

I remember when those showed up in the St. Lawrence river 20 years ago (used to have a cottage in Thousand Islands, NY). They sure cleaned up the water. Unfortunately, they clogged up inlet/outlets and anything in between also. Pesky fuggers.......
