bottom line, wakes suck without ballast. period.
You can say "wah! I surf and wakeboard behind my boat without ballast all the time!" Well, it still sucks. Man up and load up with people or fat sacks.

Theres no replacement for displacement. Its simple physics. Not TAPS, wedge, hydrogate, whatever. If its marketed to make the wake "bigger," its a gimmick. If its marketed to "shape" the wake, then it's probably true.

Convex-V and TAPS do a great job of shaping the wake, but truly the weight of the amount of fiberglass coupled with ballast is what makes a Tigé wake unprecedented. You can quote me on that. I'll pit my 22v against an Xstar or 22-foot nautique each with the same amount of ballast any day. Want to surf both sides? go for it. Want to have two people surf at the same time? Hell yeah. Oh, and by the way- I've got a MASSIVE platform for whoever wants to hang out. While you're there, hand me a beer.

Oh and the wake is breaking a little too close to the platform... hit TAPS down a notch to set it back bit.

        weighting a 22I

Any suggestions on ballast weight to start out with in a 22I??? I'm sure it's just something we'll have to play with and we're having so much fun boarding right now, we may wait until later in the summer to attempt it. From what I can tell, it looks like everyone is saying to add weight to the front first. We don't need a monster wake, just something that will be fun to play with when our bodies can no longer take the impact of our wakeboarding crashes

          Start here

Get yourself a couple of 450lb bags to throw in the back corner. Then see how your wake is. That'll give you a good start. If you want to throw 200 up in the front you can try that later.
