    Yep that is the Z1 wake @ 23 mph(locked in) and taps @ 1.
It was windy/chopy but that is the beauty of the sky ski you ride above all that chop.

Thanks for the props.......It was good to get out even though
it was on the cool side.

First the Z1 wake was very good! It was hard to get a true feel
of it because of the wind and boat chop. A couple of more
rides behind it and I can give a full report. Fairly rampy with
good size for zero ballast and only 3 people in the boat.

For the helmet comments......I could not agree with you
more. I should wear one. I usually do when I am learning
new tricks. When I am just riding and not learning I do not
wear one. One reason is a device called a "footstay". It is
sold at www.cinchmax.com. I have attached a photo of
them, look at the riders ankles. Basically, there is no way
you can come out of these. I used them for years without
fail. I have taken some really nasty falls and never came out
            of them.

They are the number one safety purchase I tell people about if they are interested in hydrofoiling. I do not think Sky Ski or Air Chair should sell there foils without this safety feature. It is an absolute must! I am putting together a foil for Buffman and his foil will have them on it.

As far as good places to find used foils........

            ebay is very good
sometimes you can find them on craigslist.

Which brand is best?......matter of opinion. Sky ski
offers a more stable ride and more selection on high end
equipment. Air chairs are more affordable. If you are
interested in riding or learning more please do not hesitate
to pm me. I enjoy seeing people get into the sport. It's
            a ton of fun!

                      Jorgy,

Thanks for the heads up on the footstays. I am a big safety freak and would be sure to look for those if I get a foil.

Can you comment a little on the beating a guy takes when you do a faceplant. They look as brutal as a faceplant when wakeboarding, but the position makes me wonder if it is even worse with that big foil on there pulling at your body. Are hydrofoiling crashes often brutal? As I mature, (that means getting old) I take a beating much less well.
                      Be excellent to one another.

                        Tall,

I think the falls on a foil are not that bad compared to a wakeboard.
I think that the falls look allot worse than they actually are. I am 44 and do not take hard falls that well also (very few people do). There are two
falls that are the worst. The first is called the "fly swatter". Basically,
if you fall sideways during a jump and the foil catches the water first it
whips you forward and slams you upper body (head) to the water. It
most often happens during 360's. The second hardest fall is called
"the scorpion". Basically it happens on an under-rotated flip. The
tip of the board catches the water and stops the rotation. Your
body gets slammed into the water usually resulting in a hard blow
to the upper body. Sometimes can not the wind out of you. It
certainly will get your attention. Understand that these falls
happen when you start to advance on the foil and learning to
do more advance tricks. Normal jumps and flying the foil will usually
                        not result in hard falls.

Hook up with us in Powell this summer and I'll spend some time showing
                        how to ride/fly the thing.
