I have had nothing but Carlisle tires on my trailer. A new set every 5 years (like Dog said). I tried to push the last set one extra season and lost one tire coming home from a long trip. Lesson is, change them every 5 years regardless of appearance. There are a few other threads on this site about this same issue, as well as on the web. I say go to your local tire place and ask them what they reccommend. They will be the ones that have to deal with any problems. I use America's Tire Co. They take great care of all mine and my families tire needs. They are a national company so you can get repairs anywhere. I think they are called Discount Tire Co. everywhere else (other than LA & Orange County). Good luck! Let us know what you decide.

Presently have TransMasters on the boat trailer. Have a nice tread design. May want to look at them...I've had good luck with them.

        thanks guys.
        - I had goodyears and they started to split at yr 5.
I currently have boat for sale and definately didnt want to sell in any condition I wouldnt feel sae towing in. I bought new tires that were a little less than the goodyears and they have same load rating D and are 8ply also.

I agree with dogbert GOODYEAR MARATHONS. I have had nothing but great service from mine. I have had the boat pulled from SLC to Bakersfield, CA twice plus many other places and not has a single problem.

On my previous trailer with Goodyear Marathons I would regularly trail up to 5500 miles a season with 3-4 trips down to the southern Ozarks( Missouri/Arkansas border) and numerous trips to Southern and Central WI. We would also trail to my parents place near Lake Wawawsee in Indiana. If the tires were used regularly and the trailer put up on blocks for the winter you could get 7 years out of them. But like most boaters after the first years of putting on blocks for the winter I quit doing it and after 4 or 5 years the Goodyears would develope a flat spot which sooner than later would blowout at 65-75 mph. It was strange because in the few blowouts I had on the single axle trailer they were all on the right side. Not to digress but I would bet part of the Carlisle problems may be flat spots caused by just sitting over the winter and dry rot in other parts of the country. They say 5 years is the max life for a boat trailer tire. That said, I still reccomend Goodyear Marathons at $120 a tire.
