    Lake Powel GPS locations

We are going to Lake Powel for the first time in June.
I am looking for any must see spots, and nice coves to visit.
(The only problem, is that I need the GPs location as my unit is not set up with lake maps)

    Thanks
    David W.

I think that this is the best map. They have GPS coordinates and a lot of information in there of things that you will never ever be able to see on your own without someone to point it out and give you a history.

When you get there, find it at the local marina or Wal-mart if you can.

Sorry the pic is not very big, but you will recognize that there is a pic of 2 'good ol boys' in the upper left corner.
    Be excellent to one another.

We are also heading out to Lake Powell on Monday night and all day Tuesday July 7 & 8. They have a 1/2 day tour and an all day tour. The all day tour is 7 1/2 hours on the tour boat. I have an 8 yr old boy and don't think he will like this if he can't get in the water. The 1/2 day tour should be available if the cut through opens up. What do you guys or gals out there think the best tour to take would be? Would we miss a lot if we took the 1/2 day tour, forgot to mention this is the Rainbow bridge tour. Thanks for your help. Any suggestions would help. We have never been out in this area.

The 1/2 day tour is one that will take you to antelope canyon and possbibly Navajo canyon. Remember that at that time of year it will be hot. I have never been on the all day tour, so I don't know if they stop and allow you to get wet, I kind of doubt it.

You might consider renting a boat and touring the lake yourself.

What dates will you be out there? We will be out there around June 24-27 or thereabouts. I know that Pablo and Talltigeguy will also be out there in June. If you're there at the same time, I could tell you some places to check out.

110 degrees and stuck on the tour boat does not sound like much fun for a youngster. I would not hesitate to rent one of the boats and use your GPS. The water is quite clear with at least 10 + feet of visibility, so running into things is not a huge concern unless you are going fast at the time. Always follow another boater when going fast (preferably one with a deeper draft than you) and then go slow when exploring side canyons.

We should be out there during that same week. We will be staying on a houseboat. Since I am basically going as a "tag along" on this trip, I'm not sure about what part of the lake we will be staying at. Definately the lower end.

Send me a pm and I'd be happy to hook up with you and point out areas that are "must see".

Thanks Guys. I have looked at renting a boat but wasn't sure about. I may look into it a little more seriously.

If any of you see us on the lake stop by and say Hi.
I do not think there will be another boat like mine on the lake.

That is the kind of bimini that my wife would like. That will come in handy at Powell during the summer.

We go to Mojave in the summer. My wife loves the lake, hates the sun so Addles in corona made this for us.

They are not connected; this is to keep them both snug.
Also it makes it easy to raise and lower the back. The only thing I whish I did was add a flap or zipper to hook up the rope.

We go to Mojave all the time......

Can't say that I have ever seen you.

                            where do you launch?

We launch from Katherine landing. We stay close to the dam. There is a nice cove heading out at about 10:30 that we like to go. Has a place for the kids to cliff dive that’s not too high.

We go mostly during the week, But this summer it will be weekend trips due to school.
