I have a 04 Switch V w/ an extreme trailer, trailer and boat weigh in at 5800 lbs with gear and gas I have it over 6500 lbs. My truck is also a 2004 with a 5.4. The only time I have any problems pulling, is when I am going up a steep grade.

Your new boat is around 3 time heaver then what you had before. But you should notice that the boat is a lot more sold then your last.

I have a 2002 Expedition and when that engine is cold, that SUV ain't going to do crap well. However, yes the boat is heavier and my Expedition also has a problem but I also shift down to drive 1 or 2 depending upon the grade of the hill and the temperature of the engine when it's at high rpm's.
