Todays Update
Another note from his mom and supervisor. He is improving and with out question he is going to recover. It was the best thing for him to move to Stanford Medical Center.
Good evening everyone,
It was a hard day watching Sean with his pain. I would massage his head and temples trying to help with the pain, but when I left his room this afternoon his heart rate was at 165. Just a little high. One of Sean's good friends who is a nurse told me to watch his heart rate and when it's high his pain level will be high too. That theory was true today.
I remember one of the doctors telling me Sean will be out of ICU when 3 things happen and they are:
1) the removal of all his tubes (he's at 10 now)
2) all the surgeries performed ( not there yet, but they will be working on his right arm tomorrow.)
3) and off the ventilator (does the trachea count, I know it doesn't as he is still on the machine.)
I really appreciate Seans Supervisor writing the notes for today. He does a great job and several people have told me they like his writing style.
Thanks.
I watch some TV.
Good night,
Seans Mom
Wednesday Evening, May 14th:
Sean remains stable this evening. Not too much occurred today. One of the Doctors did identify a blood clot in the area where his leg was removed and performed the appropriate procedure. The Doctor told his mom that they will be working on his broken arm tomorrow in order to allow it to begin healing properly. In addition, they will be performing another procedure to inspect the area where they removed his leg and remove any dead tissue. It is unknown at this time when they will begin working on his hip & pelvis area.
Sean seems to be in some pain as his mom witnessed him wincing and arching his back. His heart rate was also high. They will be adjusting his medication to account for this.
His Kidneys are consistently improving and his white blood count is stable. He is still receiving, and his stomach is accepting the nutritious mixture they began administering a couple of days ago. Swelling remains down and his temperature remains stable.
Remembering that this is a long journey to recovery for Sean, each day without a set back is a good day. Thanks for your prayers and notes of encouragement.
Have a great evening with your family.
