That is very true. Have you ever replaced the fuel filter KONA? Where you running on last years gas still or did you burn through that and get new gas already. PCM has a proprietary fuel filter for that engine. I have some extras in the garage. The only problem with the filters is they are expensive.

Have not changed filter .Fuel is Half Last years fuel with sta-bul and about and about 20 to 25 gallons new from last week. First trip I had no problems and burned through about amount above.

But wouldn't a clogged fuel filter that shut me down stay clogged or at least allow some fuel through?

Mine shut down once too (Marine Power 6.0L) and it ended up being a fuel pump. I was able to fire up and rev it for a minute so I was able to get it back on the trailer.

A clogged fuel filter will put extra stress on the pump and take it out or weaken it. If your filter picked up a bunch of crap it is like the ground. The boat bounced around on the trailer and the crap bounced of the filter allowing fuel through. This is in rare cases though. I change mine every year just to keep the pump from working to hard.

PCM says sounds like a fuel pump or filter. Start with the fuel filter. If problem continues go to a pump. After that if it conitues you will need DiComm to hook up and check the systems for fail codes. I am going to check and see if I can get my scan tool to pull fail codes from the system on these boats. I bet with the universal hook up I can.

the low pressure pump has a screen it that can get clogged its a common item that is overlooked. i would ask them if they have looked at this. i just got done having some fuel issues on my MP eng but it has same low pressure pump setup. my LP pump screen was not clogged put it did have some debris in it. we take the LP pump apart and remove the small mesh screen so the debris if any will get to the filter because then inlet screen on the LP pump is so small it cloggs easy. i have seen some pcm engines with the clogged screen. from your first description i didnt think fuel because you said it shut right off but stranger things have happend and it is a good place to start checking filters and fuel condition.

I know in GM trucks when the pumps go out the go out like right now, but they do not start back up later that is the kicker here I am going to change the fuel filter but if it still happens again I will look elsewhere.

Ok changed the fuel filter this afetrnoon and the motor fired right up as expected. but after about 15 min of running it just died again. Didn't have time to warm up temp was about 100 deg f . I can hear the fuel pump cycling it was working great to fill the filter back. No nothing again will not start. just tried it again about 1/2 an hr has passed. still nothing

We have to get a scan tool for these things. Sounds like you are having a realy or sensor go out on you. Did you replace the relay?
