    SENSOR TROUBLE

Ok out on the lake surfing today the moteor just quit running no sputering just shut down. Did not over and I had good oilpressure and plenty of gas. Could not get it re-started. It would crank over but not fire. Didn't even try to fire. Towed it back and when I was at the dock tried it again and still nothing. Loaded it on the trailor and drove it home. In the driveway it started right up.

What sensors will stop the engine from running?

I don't know of any sensors that will stop an engine. The one's I'm familiar with are for the warning system or "limp home" mode.
Check the fuel pressure on the fuel rails - should be around 35 psi. Make sure you're getting above 9v at the coil when cranking - the computer or electronic ignition won't run below that. There's probably a relay (interlocks) or 2 in the ignition circuit that might cause intermittent voltage getting to the coil or ECU. Or get one of those inline spark testers to make sure high voltage is getting to the plugs - that will check the coil supply at the same time.

Ignition modules are prone to heat up and quite, then cool down and start working.

What about an oil pressure switch on the sending unit?

Try asking the local dealer what might have caused the shutdown. I am interested to hear what you find.

They may be able to tell you over the phone a few things to check. I dropped ours off Friday to get a WS420 put in and the service Manager spent a hour with me going over all the things to check before the first trip. We also figured out the best way to mount the 420 under the dash.
Gotta love your local Tige shop (Tige Performance Boats in Phoenix).

You know we often have concerns like this or similar to this and many of them end up being a loose ground wire some where. Not that it could be that easy, but it just may. Consider this, out on the water and hit a wake joggle the wire to a not conductive state, NO START, tow home, enroute to your driveway hit a bump and joggle the wire back to a good grounding postion, walla, engine starts. Some thing simple, not to over look.

                      Good luck
I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

I had this problem with work truck, it turned out to be a plugged fuel filter.
