Oh, OK, then it's got a crank sensor. Do you have a DVOM? Crank sensor (im taking a stab) could be a 2 wire sensor with a purple wire and a blk wire. Could be wrong, but that is the typical colors used by GM.

*EDIT* Just to clarify, it still has a an ignition module, but on DIS, the crank sensor picks up the engine rotation much the same way the pickup does in a Distributor. The crank sensor sends the signal to the module, which may be part of the ECM or external of it, then the signal is processed and sent to the coils

Digital Volt Ohm Meter.......the crank sensor should produce AC voltage when the engine turns over. On a DIS, the Crank Sensor is the most likely failure.

Yes have I one I will check the sensor any idea what kind of voltage I am looking for (how much)? Also has a cam sensor ?

Off the top of my head I cant remember what the typical spec would be, but if it bad, you will see no voltage, if good, it will have an AC voltage output relative to engine speed.

Cam sensor is more about ignition timing and injector pulse, They will topically run with a bad cam sensor.

I may be able to get the "no start" and the "no spark" trouble trees out of the PCM manual for you tomorrow.

ok the darn thing is behind the starter sol it has a pink , green, and red wire. I am assuming one wire brings power down and one takes it back but wich one and what is the third one for a ground or neutral?

I wont be able to get to it until tomorrow its dark and cold but thanks for all the help

3 wire sensor, sounds like a digital (square wave signal) sensor. BLK = ground, Pink = reference voltage (probably 5v) and the green = signal return.

With key on, sensor unplugged, you should read voltage across the pink and blk. Your DVOM wont really help in testing the sensor, other then an ohms check. You really need a graphing meter like Snap On Vantage.

I'll see what I can dig up tomorrow

Thanks any idea on the cost of a new sensor. If its not to bad I will just replace if I cant read across it.

FIC should know all about this one. I think he deals with correct crafts quite a bit.
