    Saint George - Talltigeguy

    Tall,

My family and I are contemplating a trip to Saint George at the end of April. Can you tell me how busy the local lakes are at this time of year or are we better off heading to Lake Mead? Also, what are the water temps like that time of year? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance....

Hey zeda, how have you been?

Today at Sand Hollow the water was 54 degrees.

It seems that it warms pretty fast to near 60 and then takes an eternity to warm into the 70's+. I think by the end of this month it would be realistic and maybe even a little optimistic to think that things will be 60 degrees.

I suppose it depends on how hot we get.

As far as how busy it is. I think things around here suck on the weekends. Sundays are pretty good, I am told, but Friday afternoons and Saturdays are just plain crazy and will likely be getting that way by the end of this month. Today we were the only one on the lake. Monday to Thursday are pretty decent, however. Many people here do not boat on Sunday, so I am told that day is pretty decent sometimes, even in the heat of summer.

Mead will be considerably warmer and a lot less busy.

If you are serious about wakeboarding and expect to do it a lot on Saturday, then go to Mead. If you are OK with tubing on Saturday, then you will do great here. The difference in water temp will likely be enough to make any sane person want to go to Mead, depending on what your group has for enduring cold water.
    Be excellent to one another.

I'll be down is Saint George this weekend and I want to check out the Sand Hollow, how far is it from downtown?

15-20 minutes. Are you bringing the boat?

          Tall,

Thanks for the information. I think we will probably head down to Mead the last weekend of April.

I have been pretty good. I tore my ACL last July and had surgery end of October. I've been rehabbing pretty hard over the winter and I'm ready to ride this year. I will let you know if our plans change and maybe we can hook up some time in the future.

the only bad thing about mead is the wind Check the weather forcast. Usually if you go in the A.M. or later in the evening the wind dies down. Lake Mead is def. large enough, if you launch at Calleville go through the narrows and its like a new lake.

Nope, not this time. My daughter has a dance competition and we are just going to support her. I wanted to bring the boat but the fam are not ready to get in the water yet. They are worse than I am about cold water.

I am staying at the trendwest resort and I just want to check the lake for the next trip down.

Or just launch at Echo and you are already in the best part of the lake. Take the Overton exit and follow the road.

If you want a pull, I might be out there if the sun and stars all line up properly. Check your PM.

                Zeda,
sounds good about the knee. Remember that about now is the most frequent time for tearing the new ACL. It feels good, but the ligament is still not at full strength. They got you in one of those ACL braces? If you wear that then you are golden for sure.

I'd love to see how the Nauty is treating you.
