    New boat Itis

Hey yall, Got my new boat this week. Well...new to me anyways. I'm really excited to still be a Tige owner. After getting the boat in the water I noticed that my TAPS guage isn't working. The TAPS is working but the guage doesn't move. I've checked the wires on the back of the guage and they seem secure but where is the next logical step to check?
    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

Nice looking setup. Love the interior color! Looks very clean!

You might want to check the wires running into the TAPS pump. There's probably a short in there somewhere.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't his boat be one of the electric actuator style taps rams, not a hydraulic? It is still another place to look though, the connections where the gauge would get its signal. I've had to just jiggle wires before to get things to work.

I thought they went back to hydraulic, but I could be wrong.

Also, one other possibility is that there's just not enough voltage going to the TAPS gauge from the wiring harness on the dash. His dash is similar to mine and the TAPS gauge is all the way over on the right. It's very sensitive to voltage fluctuations and if there's not enough power to the dash, the last couple of gauges go marginal.

Mine, for instance, moves with my tunes

Wouldn't it be cool it the Taps plate moved with your tunes. You could get the first patent on the variable wake TAPS 3 music controlled variable wake system.

my gauge isn't working either, but I did find a severed wire back on the cylinder. Hopefully once I sodder that, it will be all good. We'll see though. do you have an electrical tester? if so, you can probably see if you are getting any power.

Very nice looking boat. If it is Hyd. Cyl there is several issues it can be. Those are a Bennett Trip Plate system. Inside the Hyd. ram there is a sensing wire that senses position and that can be bad. I had to replace mine Thank goodness it was under parts warranty. I did the labor my self. Another location to check is around the shifter. The wires are very tinny going into the shifter and they have a tendency to break.

Is the TAPS Moving when you push the button. If they are then the sensing wire in the ram is probably bad.
