It is mainly for no teak oil needing to be applied. Yea I would rather boat than maintain. It is not like a rubber mat no slip coating but it is not very slippery when wet either. So far nobody has fallen off while on the back. I saw it on a used boat we were look at and decided I needed to do that to the new one. I would highly suggest it to anyone as an alternative to the constant oiling if covering wood does not bother them.

I may be in the minority here, but I really like the teak, sure it is a little more work, but it looks great.

I got to see both, I like the old school look of the teak, plus the black rubber on the fiberglass got real hot in the sun, now this was out of the water on a trailer so I know being in the water will make a difference but still, it was almost unbearable to step on

THe Teak does look nice.. but, I always need help putting mine on/off. I'm guessing the fiberglass is much lighter.

I like the teak as well... it kinda sets the boat apart- that big fat teak platform.

Regarding having them coated- good idea, although I do hope you had the entire thing sealed. The reasoning is that the teak will start drying out underneath the coating and weaken the wood if its not completely sealed.

after you spray the teak with the bed liner, does it get crazy hot in the sun? Just wondering. Can I get a fiber glass teak for my 03? I might do that.

after it is sprayed the coating does not get super hot, not even outof the water. does it get hotter than teak, sure but not unbareable. Roon - billet? talk about getting hot! Plus the reflection may blind all aircraft passing over May be a tad pricey too.

regarding the billet- aluminum can be anodized in practically any color, which is only semi-reflective. It would be similar to doing a semi-gloss paint. As far as getting hot- remember the platform on our boats sits at or below the water level, and since aluminum conducts heat, it will readily radiate to the water... as opposed to say, your aluminum tower?
