FYI The Tige dealership is selling boats like crazy here in Calgary Ab Canada. Thank goodness for Alberta oil to keep the economy fairly stable so far. Hopefully it stays that way.

Bottom line is this economy is going to take down plenty of boat dealerships and it doesn't matter what kind of boats they are selling. Luxery items always go by the wayside first.

I hope my dealer isn't in trouble. I need to get my new boat out of winter storage ASAP with dealers dropping like flies. Are the dealers who are folding only sell Tige or did they have multiple lines? Where they on the water dealers or not on a lake or river?

I will second this. Talking to the Tige sales rep for Western Canada at the Edmonton boat show, it seems Tige is by far the best seller up here. I can't remember the exact numbers but they are outselling the closest competitor (MC I think) by something like 3:1. They have already delivered 11 Z-1's in Alberta alone. Gotta love the oil industry.

I would agree its a great time to buy a boat, but not if you have to sell yours to buy a boat. Definitely a great time to be a first time buyer for a house or a boat.

I overheared at our local boat show today that Cope and Mcphetres is losing Mastercraft, not sure if this is just a rumor, but according to the man I heared this from Mastercraft wants to have their boats sold on exclusive dealerships with no other brands.

Our local dealership is closing (Ski dog sports) but also being picked up by another. Tige owners are at our boat show this weekend to work on some details for the new dealership.

I was on Craig's list and the Seattle Mastercraft dealership has an add that says they are selling their boats at dealers cost. Now whether or not they actually are is not known but I think that is interesting that they are advertising this way.

Majestic has a long thread asking if he should go for a certain 22Ve at the dealership that is closing its doors.

That is true of Cope's. There is a lengthy debate on Wakeworld about it. Most of the people who seem to know something discount the idea that MC was trying to strongarm them into an exclusive agreement. That would be financial suicide for most dealerships. You really need a variety to offer people. Just take a peak at their inventory on their website. There are 89unused 2007 boats If the link does not work, click on clearance models and then Mastercraft. They also have 13 2008 MC.

Can you say 'buthineth ith not good'?

Funny thing is when I was in Cali, gas is less there than it is in Alberta-and the stuff is in our back yard. It sucks as we all drive towing vehicles. Our provincial government just finished raising the oil company taxes by 20%. Ouch
