I once knew a guy who weighed 400 pounds. (his high school nickname was 308, because that was his weight back then). Health problems forced him into a nursing home. Once in the nursing home, he was losing weight at an unbelievable rate. All that happened was he ate 3 regular sized meals per day. It takes a huge number of calories just to maintain 400 pounds. When he was just getting a regular amount of calories...his weight plummeted about 15 pounds per month.
I'll bite and say something some people might find insensitive here: When I see a 300 pound person who tells me they do not eat very much, I know they are lying. They may not realize it, but put a calorie counter on that person, they are taking in a lot. It is physiologically impossible to survive at 300 pounds while only eating a limited number of calories.
