How many of you got the letter from marine power with the big straw for checking the dipstick length and what were your results? My 07 22ve showed the dipstick tube extending 1/4" above the straw, which is within the acceptable limit according to the letter. It seems that would mean my oil level would be a little on the high side. Just curious what your results are?

I have not received any letter but I think my 07 MP in my 22 might be a candidate, I have had some rather eye brow raising moments of doubt when checking my oil. Does the letter say anything about a vin or date range for the engines with the issue?I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

Last summer I had gotten my boat serviced a few weeks before and we headed to Lake Powell and not long after we had been there long when we were out boarding a buzzer would go off and we didnt know what it was for. After checking everything out we found that the oil level was way low. When I took the boat to the shop when we got back they explained to me that the dipstick being the wrong length was the problem. They put more oil in that what the engine really needed but by the dipstick it needed more. They explained that oil was so high that was hitting the crank shaft and that it would make the oil froth. And once it began to froth the oil would burn and make the oil to low in the engine. We havent had any problems since they changed the dipstick.

Tige and/or the dealers should have info available to them from MP with engine serial # break points.
For those that don't get a letter, should be able to find out if their engine falls within that recall. I got my letter yesterday as well.Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

Most mechanics will do this but Technicians will not. It is common sense. On a GM V-8 engine with out a dry sump system which is used in race boats and cars you should never put more than 6 quarts in and in most cases it is full at five quarts. In order to get the oil to be hitting the crank shaft and cause this problem you had to be at 8+ Quarts of oil. That in my opinion is someone working on your boat that should not be.www.automarinecare.com CWB, ACME, FlyHigh, Merc Marine, PCM, Marine-power, WETSOUNDS, HSE Volume Controls, Kicker, Sony, Samson Sports, and many other marine parts or accessory's.
