    Eastern Washington

I see some (not a lot) on this forum from around the great northwest. Admittedly, the majority are from the southwest, south and south east.

Anyone going to be at Crescent Bar or Steamboat Rock State Park this year?

    My Schedule:

    May: once, camping
    June: once, camping
    July: twice, camping both times
    August: once, Condo
    September: once, camping

We usually go to Crescent Bar a few times a year. It's getting pretty crowded with all the new condos there now.
Steamboat is nice... You get reservations there?

I go to E WA a lot. Live on the West side but East of the mountains is where its at for warm water, hot days and lots of good water. I usually go to Billy Clap, Banks and Roosevelt. Sometimes I go to the Columbia but I like the lakes better than the river. I'm going to try going around the Tri-Cities this Spring. Anyone have any suggestions for places to go in that area?

There are tons of areas around the Tri-cities. Try the lower Snake River. The water temps are usually 7-8 degrees warmer than the Columbia in July and August.
The Columbia runs right through the Tri-cities and gets to be a zoo on weekends, but if you get away from town the crowds really thin out. We usually boat on the Snake River at Fishhook Park or Lyons Ferry. You can go for miles with hardly any boat traffic, so if you like to ride, it's ideal.
Shoot me a PM if you get over this way.

Is Steamboat pretty tough to get a reservation at? (I'd imagine you'd need to book pretty far in advance.) I do most of my riding in the panhandle of Idaho, but get serious envy every time I see folks post up pictures of Pateros, or any of the lakes/rivers around the Gorge. Plus, half the time it's raining and 60 here, but it's 80 and sunny in the middle of Washington.

You might find mid week or a cancellation, but most sites fill up in January.

Yep - got reservations for Steamboat Rock this year, and a crescent bar up at the condos (Aug trip).

You can luck out however. Some friends and us decided to try for Steamboat for the Fourth of July - we figured go for it and see if we get lucky. Was able to pick up some sites last week for Sat 5th and Sun 6th (will need to move each nite though). To reserve for several nites in a row, you do need to reserve quite a bit in advance.

Lake roosevelt has the best skiing in eastern Washington. I'm ready to go.

I prefer Banks, a little warmer water, but I won't debate your statement. Where abouts on Lake Roosevelt? It seems like it might be the longest lake in the country.

Eastern Wash. has tons of great spots. One of our favorites for getting away from the crowds os Lyons Ferry on the Snake. Even on big weekends there is hardly any boats there. We went for about 7 miles riding on the river without passing any boats on Labor Day. It was in the 90's and nothing but glass...
Costigan... we stay in Davenport occasionally in the fall /winter. I have access to some property up there for hunting.

I like going up the Spokane arm. It's narrow so the water is almost always great, even when it's a little busy.

Anyone ever camped and boat at Woodhead Park on the Snake River?

                          What about Brownlee Reservoir?

Looking for some good water, good camping for this summer. We're from the Portland area and checking out places within about a 5-6 hour drive.

If you are going to the Snake from Portland your best bets are Fishhook Park and CHARBONNEAU Park on the lower Snake.
Both are great parks and the Snake is fantastic during the week there.

                              Nice.

Have not been in that part of the state. How are the crowds there? I pulled up your link, looks like it's not too far from Tri-cities.

I'd like to find a couple of RV spots for July 3rd/4th, then hop up over to Steamboat where we are booked for 5th/6th. (I know - may be impossible to reserve sites this close to a major holiday weekend, but . . . )
