          PRO 80's and 07 20V

          Lunchbox;
Did you open your top after you installed the PRO 80's?
My dealer who was doing the install has stated that the Pro 80's when mounted interfere with the top and that the top cannot be put up on my 20V

I find this weird since you have them mounted high on the tower and other people(Dogbert) have seen 20V's with the PRO 80's.

I told my dealer to stop the install until I investigate my options. Right now I am only in it for a half hour of labor with them since they did not pull any wires.

What I probably will do is when I pull the boat home from the dealer look at it myself and go from there. It is only 2-3 weeks away. Another fugly situation

Anybody need a pair of B stock PRO-80's. Never used.

Drop your Bimini mounts lower. You'll be ok. I'm assuming your bimini opens up below the bars, and not on top. Is this correct?

I don't know. I have never opened it yet since the boat has been stored at the dealer ever since I bought it.(Storage was free for 1st season). When I pick up boat I will check. I am 99.9% sure that they will work and that my dealer is whacked. A Darn Cheese Head from WI.

There is no reason why the shouldn't especially if we look at Lunchbox's 07 20V

Sorry Jason about Cheese Head comment.

Based on this and some other issues re: the sound system I may look for another source to install. I was doing it at the dealer to avoid warranty issues. Fugly

Well I'm a cheesehead originally... So be careful...

Here's the deal... I have a completely factory tower with a completely factory bimini... I had the bimini up with absolutely no problem yesterday... I even had some life jackets drying in between the speakers on top of the bimini... That's about how much room you have between the bimini and the speaker... It's about an inch... I could see it being an issue with 4 pro 80's on there but I have 80's on the inside and 60's on the outside so clearance is not an issue whatsoever... We might go out again tomorrow so if I do I'll take a picture...

                      LBX,

OOPS on the Cheese Head comment

You don't need to take pictures. I can see what you are refering to in the pictures on this post! I am just tired of some issues with my dealer and this is one of them so I am pulling the install back from them and will determine my options after that.

They wanted too much for install of 2 Pro-80's, Zx550-2 amp to drive them and 2nd battery with isolator. I am going to look at my local options and go from there after I get boat out of storage and go for demo ride.

Have a good one and thanks.

I'd have your dealer pull the wires and then you can put what you like on your tower.

After contemplating and giving great thought to the issues I am not even going to have them pull the wires. Assuming their quote to me had little slop in the labor they want about $600 to add 2nd battery and to pull wires. That is almost 7 hours of labor. Right now my faith in their ability to add on components to the factory system is shakey at best.

I think based on today and this issue that I am guinea pig for add on equipment and speakers in their shop for Tige. Heck they originally told me I could hang PRO-60's off the factory amp and not add an amp. I will call Wetsounds and maybe Kicker to see if they know of any installers in my area.Remember my trailer fiasco? I would like to avoid that again

I will re-weigh my options Tuesday once I have calmed down and researched other install options. The PRO-80's will fit in the center of the tower as seen in LBX's pictures. It boils down to my faith in their ability and I will discuss with them on Tuesday next week when they are open again. We shall see.

Don't get me wrong the dealer is pro customer and is willing but I don't know now if they are able on sound side of things. On the mechanics side of the boat I have faith. They have tried and I am happy about that but I am not going to be the guinea pig again

Thank you for the idea. It is appreciated.

                          Sorry about the length.

Keep in mind that your dealer may not have the skills to do audio.

That is what I am afraid of. I trust them and respect their other abilities but for an experienced installer does it take 6 hours to pull two speaker wires to the tower, 2 RCA connections to the amp, a power run to the amp and the battery and isolater wiring? I don't know Maybe Phil or Chpthril can answer this?

That makes for the perfect opportunity for someone with who knows what their doing, and has a desire to do it right the first time, to start his own marine audio installation business
