I've done some extensive sanding on mine, and it now looks like woodtone but not quite the usual shade of teak. Are you saying that the previous chemicals are reacting with what I'm putting on there? That does make some sense, but what really is throwing me off is how dark it gets when just applying mineral spirits to the wood. I tried this on both the top and bottom of the platform. When I put on Cetol, it came out almost black which was really shocking.

Yes. I've only ever put Premium Teak Oil on mine. This is the first restoration/cleaning product that has actually lifted the old oil out of the wood.

Not sure why you would use the products you're talking about, they may be part of the problem.

We've used Cetol for years on other teak, and we've loved the finish it has left. I may have to try some teak oil. Mineral spirits is clear and can be used as a cleaning agent, but it started turning dark almost immediately.

I know that the 2005 models were sold as teak but they are not. Its Iroko wood.

Seems like he's varnishing his platform. I'd recommend trying the Snappy Teak-Nu. No sanding required. It really works the best of any product I've tried.

I varnished the Teak on our first boat the first time I redid it, per someones recommendation, and it flaked up by the end of the season and looked horrible. It was a biatch to strip it off. Nothing but light sanding and teak oil after that.
