    replacing the intake hose

When I was hooking my boat up to run off of a hose, I noticed that my intake hose going from the thru-hull to the water pump had a spot where there was some wear on it. So, I figure I should just replace the hose. I'd like to replace that hose with a radiator hose. Does anyone see this being a problem? Here's my reason for wanting a different type of hose. That hose is really thick, and it isn't flexible at all. A radiator hose would have a little more flexibility to it. I plan on winterizing the boat by popping the hose off of the thru hull, and I already made a piece that will fit into the hose that I can screw a garden hose into. I then can hook that garden hose to my bucket of antifreeze. So again, should there be any problem replacing that hose with a radiator hose?

I would worry about it sucking shut/collapsing.

You can make/buy and flush adapter with hose hook up and valve (to prevent drain back) that you can maybe put in place of the worn spot and you wont have to remove anything to winterize. This would kill 2 birds.

There is a reason why it so thick and and it has wire through it. It is due to collapsing. If you need to replace I would replace it with OEM. Just my 2

The collapsing issue makes sense. I had thought of putting in a valve and a flush adapter, but space is limited. I'll check it out this afternoon.
