I am putting a call into a friend who make biodiesel. May consider running a 5% blend.

Anyone know up to what blend you can run in a 7.3 PSD without harming the engine?

              Turbo,

You should be fine running 5%, I work for a large municipality here in the northwest and they looked at running biodiesel a few years back in all their 5 and 10 yard trucks but it would have caused problems with them because it loosens up the crud in the engines and plugs the fuel filter, starving the engine for fuel.
I don't think your 7.3 would suffer the same problems but I would definately check before you take the leap.

I think its a combination of problems that led to the current price increases , 1 .they wouldnt let us drill for oil off the coast of fla. because of the fear of oil spill, yet a catagory (5) hurricane had little or no effect on the oil rigs at Louisiana. 2 . 20 years back when the oil companys requested to build new refineries to meet demand they were rejected, so demand is up supply is down , overhead is low profits go up. 3. Its an election year and the powers that be will try to make people misserable to influenece the voters , remember whos in charge of congress . Now I am not trying to cause a political debate just giving a view point which is what makes America great.

Dumped my diesel about a month ago.....just in time! And I thought I might be making a mistake......guess not. My new gas truck gets about the same milage, not the same power though.....just can't beat a turbo diesel for that.

don't go for the v10 either...not much power and very thirsty. I had one for a very short time....sweet ride as long as you like gas stations along the way.

I still love mine. Just did a Vegas trip from Phoenix this weekend with 6 people. Went there and back and still have 1/4 tank left. Probably averaged about 17.5MPG.

Divvy that up among 6 people, still probably comes out more economical that taking two gassers up.

And since we were in Vegas we pooled all the gas money together put it on black at the roulette wheel and it hit. So gas was on the house. Also did the same for the hotel room, but bet on the PHX SAC basketball game. PHX won, so the hotel room was on the house too.

That's cool...... most of the time I pay double for room, gas, food and I'm an expert at getting a $100 free drink at the craps table.

Just paid $3.99 a gallon in Austin, Tx.

I have driven diesels for the last 12 years and remember paying $0.95 a gallon back in the mid 90's. Just crazy.

I guess I feel even more crazy being that this is my daily driver. Used to get about 12 to 14 mpg even with the lift. But once they went to this new diesel. It dropped to about 10, if that.

Has anyone else noticed that their mpg went down when this new diesel came out? Pretty much all of us at Wet Sounds drive diesels and so do a lot of my friends and everyone of us has noticed the same thing.
