While doing my research for our new boat I have also been monitoring the Mastercraft forums and I think there are alot of Boat issues over there as well. The biggesst one I keep coming across is the owners really want Mastercraft to redesign their tower. Owners are complaining about lots of flexing.

The more I read this post and all the hostility that is going on leads me to think that we should all be thankful that there are many different makes of boats out there to choose from. Why would we all want the same boat?

Here's some posts from Team MC...Apparently MC's have vinyl that cracks too??? Also, I guess there is a run of white vinyl that turns pink...well I don't know about everyone else here but had we dicided to buy an x-star, I would wish I had pink vinyl in my $80k x-star

The vinyl on the rear seat and the top of the rear transom is starting to split at some of the stiching holes.

      Two questions:
      1) the boat is less than 4 years old with 250 hrs on it, is this typical for this kind of splitting to be happening?

      2) what can I do to stop further progress of the splitting or can it be repaired without replacing the seat?

I too have cracked seams, needs a new skin for over the engine. My dealer tells me its no longer available from MC. Anyone know where to get one?

I am not going to continue through the 11 pages on the "vinyl splitting at stitching" post but my point is that no boat is perfect. I think the quality that tige has stepped up to in the past 4-5 years equals the MC's and Bu's that we looked at, and the dealer experience made our mind up for us once we looked at them all. Enjoy whatever you buy!!!

My 06 was also an early 06....born on date - 10/05, and i have no problems with mine also.

If he had an 04, or older, as his first Tige, he may have had some seam issues, but i have not heard of anyone on here, that bought new, not having it addressed by Tige.

Majestic on the Tigeowners forum we try to keep it non-hostile but unfortunately Rob has rubbed a lot of us the wrong way with his agenda. As a few of us said it is your choice after you test drive each one.

I am a fan of both Mastercraft and Tige. I bought my Tige because it had what I wanted in a quality boat at a very good price point. It will out perform our Maristar but we aren't comparing apples to apples either. Good Luck and Happy Easter.

Exactly, we don't want all the same boat since we all are individuals with different needs and standards.

I have experience with MB's, Supras, DD Malibu's, and Centurion's. All my friends own these boats. Each one has their unique features and we all like each others boats. We all enjoy each others boats and take it for granted that we all have nice boats.

Do you guys honestly think that someone who can afford to own two boats is the type of person who comes to this site to start sh**. Rob is nothing more than a spoiled 15 year old who doesnt really know the first thing about boats let alone life in general. They are probably his dads boats he is talking about. He is winning by getting underneath your skin.

Regarding the vinyl problems, these are well documented. The issue on most V-Drives is that there was no place to step when getting into the boat from the swim platform. The seats would get wet and then, with folks stepping on them, would cause tremendous pressure on the seams in the seat cushions. The newer boats (Ve, RZ and Z1) have a totally different seat cushion design as well as flip-over cushions to eliminate that problem.

I learned a lot when replacing my upholstry, which held up remarkably well considering how much we used the boat since I bought it new in 1999. One thing you really want to be careful with is what type of cleaner you use on your vinyl. Not so much because it would hurt the vinyl, but more because the cleaner could cause the thread used for stitching to deteriorate prematurely. Most manufacturers use a cotton-based thread, which will deteriorate over time. My new seats use a Nylon, which should last longer, but will also eventually succumb to the sun down here in Texas.

One last bit of advice. Avoid using that spray-on sunscreen (you know the kind that seems like it's in an aerosol can). It does nasty things to both vinyl and the seams. Most of it doesn't end up on your skin, but all over your boat. If someone puts it on, make them stand downwind on the swim platform or not use it at all.

One thing for sure, it's overbuilt like them.

Make then what you feel is a fair offer, but, IMHO, that boat is priced about right. Good luck, hope to see you as a new Tige owner.
I agree w/ chpthril. I've worked a couple of shows also. The price sounds in line for what you've listed as equipment. I'm sure that you'll choose the boat that fits you best.
