I have an 2005 22i. I can honestly say the only thing about my Tige that I am not totally happy about is my Upholstery!

Seems are splitting, fit & finish is fair at best.

I've had it at the dealer 3 times to have them remedy it and they made an attempt at it but still FAIR!

My dealer has been really good at committing to make it right but it's getting old driving an hour & a half each way for them to send it out to their people and days later get it back only to see another unsatisfactory job.

So I will have it back to the dealer soon and have another go at it.

So far I have not been able to get my point accross to Tige and my dealer that I am one of the most addicted Tige' Freaks and I brag, swear and profess this boat is the best to everyone that will listen, only to have to make excuses that the shoddy upholstery will get fixed???...

    Can you tell I'm frustrated?

Overall, I loved the X-star for the rampy wake. Then I realized that my 24V can produce a very similar wake if I just put the TAPS down. I think you will want to test drive and see it for yourself.

Also, don't forget to take the dealer into consideration. How will he treat you when you need to get it in quickly?

I drove in an X-45 today!
I debated about even starting this thread, but thought that I would give my experience.

A friend of mine (who makes more than I do) bought a new 2007 MC X-45. He invited me out this morning and we wakeboarded around a little. He got a deal on it at around 70K or so since it was the end of the year. I asked him why he didn't go talk to my Tige dealer and he said: UHMM, I dunno. I think he just had extra cash to burn so he went straight with the most expensive he could find.

        A few random thoughts:

The tower: very nice, very solid, the swing in board racks are the shizzle. The bimini fit nice and was overall a huge bonus.

The tower stereo: 4 cans put out more sound than I have heard from any other 4 can system. When I rode, he hadn't exactly figured out how to turn it up so I had to ride without it, but had him turn it up when I was in the parking lot leaving and he was still on the lake...very impressive for four cans. And they look good on the tower.

Overall the fit and finish was very nice. The boat has a very solid feel to it and the seats are comfortable. The bow is huge, like another cockpit all by itself.

It turned very well once going, but was a big slug at idle speeds.

Handled double ups like they hardly existed, probably even better than my 24V.

I had to leave before they surfed. My friend was able to let go of the rope with 4 people in the boat and just stock ballast. He said it was a very average wave and could not move around in the pocket or he would fall out.

The wakeboarding wake was nice. With the Trimtab up, you needed to go 23 MPH to make a decent wake, or it foamed up. I was able to go at 21.5 with just a hint of the wake falling over on top with the trim tab most of the way down. We discovered that things were better at 22 MPH (of course after I got done). It seemed that going from inside the wake to outside had a better pop than going from the outside in. The main problem was that if you went wake to wake, and came up short, you hit this rock solid steep ramp and it would jolt your teeth out.

My biggest complaint was that this wake could not be made usable by beginners, the speed has to be too fast, the abrupt inner lip of the wake is terrible if you land just short on a wake to wake jump. For that reason, I could not have one.

There is a real ski pylon.

The vinyl does not seem to heat up to 180 degrees in the desert sun.

The storage up front was cavernous. The rear storage hatches are unimpressive. I MIGHT be able to get the 5 man water weenie in there. My tige has that, a ballast bag and another 3 man tube in the rear storage hatch.

The 8.1 liter engine has a nice low grumble to it and got the boat on plane nicely. I just would not want to have to fill that 90 gallon tank.

Come on, post some pictures of your 06. It should be ready for sale and looking as good as only a Tige can. Where is it posted. My brother is looking for a Tige! Let me see the boat so I can show him. What are you asking for it? How is it equiped? What brand trailer is it sitting on? If your selling it I would be more than happy to look at it and go from there. PM me with the info. Lets go make a sale or is this

robd1589 you sure like getting one of the few people who have complained about their seams and making a big deal about it. I decided to look over all the posts made by b/w05. When I read all his other posts other than an issue with his seams he is very pleased with his Tige. It looks to me like his dealer was not servicing him right and that was his frustration. Mastercraft also has dealers that are disliked. I know of one we used right by our lake and now we get our Mastercraft serviced elsewhere by certified Mastercraft techs.

I find it humorous that you copied down to tessa. That used to be my id and I did ask about the seams and also talked to Tige about them. They and I will admit there was an issue and that they have addressed it. If you look at all the Tige users in this forum very few have complained about their seams. I believe the problem is less than 1% of the boats. It existed and has been addressed so it is a dead point.

What you have done is isolated on one subject. Fit and finish. As I said we have a Maristar in the family and we love it except for what we had to pay for it. A big reason I went to Tige! We also had issues on the MasterCraft. Seats that would not properly drain. Years later we still have that issue. Depth gauge in-accurate replaced numerous times design flaw with transducer mounting. White plastic drink holders cracking and discolored by the sun. Bad design cheap parts. Fuel Usage approx 12 gals an hour mixed usage. Not great economy. Is good boat has a monster tank. The last one I will mention is the interior. With weekly upkeep during the summer the seats yellowed over time. We used vinyl cleaner and protectorant recomended by Mastercraft. We have had other brand related issues but they are not worth wasting my time over.

My point in all of this is every brand boat will have its issues and nits. My Four Winns had seat seams split in first four years. Does it make that brand inferior. Nope. It is a popular I/O and after 14 years mine sold for 40% less than I bought it for. All boats have issues even the beloved Mastercraft. They are very nice boats and so are Tige's. Don't hop on fit and finish because Mastercraft has issues also. They have had to adjust to issues on all their models and model year updates. Is part of the industry. Is Mastercraft better than other inboards. Yes, some, but not all, and Tige is in the running with Mastercraft. Are Mastercrafts over priced. Yes. You are buying brand name recognition and branding done by a company that has been around for a while. Tige is a young company that has the best growth in the industry since it started. As I said in another post I choose Tige over Mastercraft not to bash Mastercraft but because I felt Tige handled better and had better fuel economy that the Maristar 200 I was looking at. The price difference was too much for me to invest in a boat that I may get to use 2 weeks a year and if I am lucky 12 weekends.

Sell your supposed Tige and have fun with your wonderfull Mastercraft and if you want to bash Tige's go to WW and not here. Send me info on your Tige. I may have a buyer.

Sorry guys for the long post but I wanted to use facts from our family Maristar to show no boat manufacturer is perfect.

With the Tige at 62k I would be getting,

                    340 hp
                    Heater
Stereo with 2 tower speakers and 4 wetsounds interior speakers 1amp,1sub
                    Cover
                    Tige speedset
                    Extreme Trailer

                    With the Mastercraft,

Interior speakers and amp are standard
                    Heat is extra
                    Wake plate is extra
                    tower speakers are extra
                    Perfect pass is extra

I will have to be super impressed by the Mastercraft after my water test this week to pull me their direction.

I still think the Tige should me Mid 50's for me to buy.

well until you can produce a picture of a boat (thats yours) i call and no longer wish to hear from you. if you had a tige and know about this site what name did you post under? i think its time you went away because your here just to hate and its not needed or appreciated. the more you come here and hate i think you prove alot of people right when they say MC owners are A-holes. i dont know how they do it put they really turn people into pricks overnite. so bounce off this site go get in your overpriced, nice fit finished, ill handing, gas guzzling boat you love so much and disappear.

I worked 3 boat shows with 2 dealers last month. I spec'd a 22Ve out with same options, but no tower speakers, plus: ballast, ss package, wind screen, bimini, custom hull color, for more.

Make then what you feel is a fair offer, but, IMHO, that boat is priced about right. Good luck, hope to see you as a new Tige owner.

Majestic it is your choice to make. Both Tige and Mastercraft are great boats and only you should be making the choice for you. Both boats have pluses and minuses. I like both and the family has both Mastercraft and Tiges. We like both but I felt Tige for me had the bang for the buck. Good luck with your choice and let us know how you decide. Have fun on the test drives. Post pic's of what you finally get.

By know means, is this a bash on MC, but to show Rob, and anyone else, that NO boat is perfect.

                              From WW:

"MC depth sounder puck came loose...Noticed it has broke loose from where it was glued down beside trans.. My question is how to re-attach it.. just epoxy around it or does there need to be a layer underneath it."

                              "By Brandon (bwillx2) on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 - 6:46 am:

I just noticed a small crack in the fiberglass under one of my seats when I lifted it up to clean it. It's only about 2 inches long, but Should I put something on it so it doesn't keep running? If so... What?? "

"04 Xstar questions please help.....I was wondering if stress cracks are normal on this boat and is it expensive to have them fixed? It also needs new skins on the seats. Has anyone replaced them and is that expensive? Also the bimini top has a rip and needs replaced..Cost? I am looking to buy this boat and it is a good deal but it has some issues that need to be fixed. I don't want to get in over my head"

The interesting thing here is Rob has an 06 Tige. I also have one and have never experienced any vynal problems not to mention my boat was one of the first 2006 boats made out of the new Tige manufacturing plant in Texas. If anyone would have a problem with their seats, I would think my boat would be having a problem by now. So, I am also calling to Rob. Sorry, we are not believing you. Not to mention that the vynal has a three year warranty.
