Tige RZ2 VS X-star

I do get water over the bow on my RZ2 if I take a roller head on. But, the x-start will take a little more than the RZ2.

There is a difference, but both boats will take water.

You are absolutely right! You have to exercise caution with both boats. And of course you would know since you used to have an RZ4....

You can always take water if you want. I know for a fact, when my mother-in-law is sitting on the bow, for some reason I always accidentally get water over the bow and get her soaked!

Sure do. Bottom line is every wakeboard boat with ballast will take water over the bow if you don't exercise caution.

As far as wakes between the RZ2 and the XS, they are very different.

RZ2 - has a fat lip to it that will really give you a boot. The wake feels very firm but doesn't jolt you if you case the wake. I really like this feature when learning new inverts, since I always come up short and case the wake.

XS - A really long ramp with little boot at the top, unless you add on top of the stock ballast. The table will be a bit wider. Casing the wake is a little stiffer than a Tige. Will produce a better double up because of the longer transition.

I'll weigh in here. At the Texas INT competition last August, we had the X-Star and the RZ2. One day you rode behind one boat and the next behind the other. Most riders preferred the RZ2 over the X-Star. They had to work harder with the X-Star than the RZ2 to get the necessary pop for their tricks.

And you could tell just from watching the riders that they had an easier time behind the RZ2.

They're both good boats, but I'd get the RZ2.

i found the RZ2 alot more forgiving about taking water over the bow. when it first came out we were at the dealers meeting putting people up front and trying to get it to take one over the bow just so we could compare to the MC. Im not saying it wont but it is not as bad as the MC as far as rollers over the bow. i think the tige handles better rides better and fuel economy is far better on the tige. not to mention more adjustable wakes.that is why IMPO tige is the bettter choice. good luck in your hunt for a new boat i hope it works out well for you whatever you choose. and would love to have you on the site as a new tige owner.

I agree with all of those points. I think one of the other big differences is cabin space. The RZ2 will have a lot more room in the cabin area.

I have been in both boats at Lake Powell. There is one stretch of lake (the channel) that has a brutal amount of traffic, and cliff walls that just reflect the waves back and forth without dampening them. The X-star took a beating in that environment and rattled the occupants more than the Tige for sure. So if you have to deal with rough water much, you will find the Tige better.

Overall, I loved the X-star for the rampy wake. Then I realized that my 24V can produce a very similar wake if I just put the TAPS down. I think you will want to test drive and see it for yourself.

Also, don't forget to take the dealer into consideration. How will he treat you when you need to get it in quickly?
