    Warrantable?

Another question for the audience...the "chrome" on the bezels on my gauges is bubbling up, getting ready to peel off...in your opinion, is this warrantable? The dealer says to send them the gauges, but you should take a look at trying to get them loose! TIA

well I think you have a choice of making the drive to the dealer or taking out the gauges yourself. depends on which is more of a PITA for you , but it is def warrantable

The gages are easier than it looks. Just dig in and change them. Get a note book to keep track of wires and connections if you are afraid you will mis place them. Draw a diagram of the back of each Gage and the location of each color wire.

Yes it is, or yes it should be, providing the boat is still within wty. What year is your 22? I have the exact same concern with mine. I mentioned it to the dealer early last summer and told them I wasn't worried about it unless it got worse, well it did. Kirk @ NAMG called tige' and ordered these for me and they were shipped right to me. It actually isn't the gauge, it is just a chrome bezel ring that goes over top the gauge and fastens to the billet dash plate. They aren't difficult to change either if you are handy with that kind of thing.

Give your dealer or dealer service dept. and ask them what they will do. Are you close to your dealer? Mine is about a 3 hr drive. It works great for me to have that relationship with Kirk, I have been able to do all of my wty work due to them (tige') being gracious enough to send me the parts. I just hold on to what I remove and then send them the old parts back.

Even better take a digital photo to use as a reference.

Thanks Scoot! Mine's a 2007. My dealer's 3 hours away as well, and I'd hate to haul it up there just for that. Can you PM me about the ring removal? Did the gauge have to be removed first? I'm pretty handy, thanks to my Dad buying VERY used boats (and cars) all my life It's a matter of being able to get your hands up in there! Thanks all for the help/advice!

The chrome ring replacement is a piece of cake. You don't have to remove the billet dash plate to do so. All you have to do is remove 4 screws (total) from the back side, 2 on each ring. There is one of the screws, that is kind a tricky to get to because there isn't much room. But with the right tools it's no problem.

Instruction P.O.V. is from lying on the floor looking up into the back of the dash. Disconnect the wiring harness from the right side gauges and pull it down and out of the way, there is one zip tie that you will need to cut & then replace with a new one when you are done. (Getting the wiring harness out of the way isn't completely nec. but it does open up the view a great deal.) Then all you need to do is find the screw heads and back them out. I used a philips head socket on a 1/4" ratchet to remove. There wasn't engouh room on the left side gage top screw to use the rachet so I used a 1/4" drive handle with a universal and same philips socket. Climb out from under the dash and then place your new rings on the dash plate. At this point you will need some assistance from another person to hold the rings against the dash plate and line up the holes and then reinstall the screws and then tighten, reinstall wiring harness & zip tie. "Done!"

                  See pic's.

Good luck, hopefully they will give you the new rings. Like I said piece of cake, took me about 20 minutes and 1 crick in my neck.

Your PM has been sent. If you need more support just let me know.

With that said, I wonder if there is any way to move the whole thread into the how to section, kind of like a copy & paste.

Thats a good questions for the forum administrator.
