PPE has had one for a while now. Banks is always the last on the market w/ everything. Actually Banks uses a parallel set-up for their twins which could be good for our boats, as the smaller turbos will help eliminate lag. Your top end will just be limited.... which in our case, isn't that big of a deal.

You can actually pick up a working duramax motor for about $8K-$10K and PPE has the adapters and exhaust manifolds and tuning that are needed. The problem is what Tranny do use? The torque would shread our standard Walter units I think. If I remember right, our units are only good for 500 ft. lb. of tq.... but I could be wrong on that.

Banks typically puts more R&D into their products (compared to other diesel performance manufacturers).

I don't know about that... if you'll ask around PPE is pretty much top dog when it comes to performance and reliability. Banks just has more red tape to go through, and not to mention they have to get their marketing machines rolling, which is what you end up paying for in the end with Banks. The Banks stuff just doesn't perform in the end, especially not for the prices they charge. Yes they have the capability (I.E. the sidewinder) but stuff like that will never be released to the public. Of course I'm biased as I know the guys at PPE and race w/ their products and EFI.

However the Banks stuff is also geared for the every day guy who doesn't want to push the limits. They are very good for the segment they aim at. But, you just pay ALOT for their marketing, and there are far better options on the market.

                      sounds like it.

Dont know what you're referring to in your "everyday guy who doesnt want to push the limits." But, when GM, International, and Cummins go to an engineering firm for R&D efforts, I dont really call that the "everyday guy." If you're talking about blowing smoke and going "fast" with a bunch of bolt ons, I guess you're right.

However, I call pushing the limits engineering a powerplant from the block up, pushing a pickup past 220mph on the salt flats (after towing its own support rig cross country), pushing yet another pickup down the 1/4 mile in 7.98 secs, at 170.789 (using a 1200hp "out of the box" banks modified crate engine), and competing with corvettes in the NASA endurance race series.

you can see any of this here:
                      7.89 sec 1/4 mile run.

I wouldn't quite pull the Manuf. going to Banks card, as GM also works hand in hand w/ PPE as well as EFI.

I should point out that I'm speaking strictly on Duramax Motors and strictly to their pricing and tuning. As to their bolt on products, while generally severly overpriced, are usually well engineered.

Their tunes, however, when dyno'd NEVER give their stated amounts in my experience and for the price they charge you would think they would.

I'm laughing at the fact you brought up the Sidewinder and the Type R and S duramax's as there are not exactly street vehicles and I even stated above I wasn't talking about hose. I'm referring to products that the average joe can call Banks and purchase. 700hp isn't exactly ground breaking either. There's more than a few 700+ hp cummins and duramax's running around. and even a few 1200hp trucks. I don't get impressed when you drop a 1200hp motor into a 2.5K lb stripped S-10 and launch it down the track in 8 secs... the pros do this all the time. Now when you take a stock bodied (other than required cage) and launch a crew cab 4WD truck that weighs 7K lbs. down the 1/4 in 9 secs. then you've got my attn. There's more than a few duramax's and cummins doing this. One Ford is bout to break this ground, but it has a cummins in it.

Just keep in mind, the trucks you listed, have products that Banks has openly admitted the day they broke the 8 sec. mark, will NEVER be available to the public.

There's a reason you won't see Banks tunes in any of the serious guys truck's at the drag strip or the pulls. They just don't perform. The guys that do run them usually end up seeing tail lights.

Banks is pretty much good for giving u a small gain in HP/TQ (don't expect to get what they claim) and a fuel mileage increase. You will never have to worry about your tq. converter, tranny clutches, or rods, or anything of the such as they keep their tunes way down. However there are tons of other products on the market that do the same for WAYYYYY LESS. Do they offer good safe tunes.... YES!!! Will you get what they claim?.... NO!!!! Will two equally equipped vehicles, one running a comparitive tune from Banks and one from one of their competitors, run the same times?.... NO! The Banks will lose 9 out of 10 times. It's been proven hundreds of times at the track by others, and I've seen it personally on others vehicles and I've personally ran their tunes to test and lost a whole 8/10ths of a second on a comparable tune.

w/ your GPH increase you might not have to buy it on the lake

Our big problem is what kind of Vdrive and tranny do we put in? I talked to Walter and they said to handle a 350HP motor and 600FT. LBS of TQ then we'd never be able to fit the required unit into a Tige
