    Ripstik - very cool toy!

My wife bought me one of these "Ripstik castor boards" for Christmas this past year and at first I was like "oh boy, another toy that I won't use". I tried it out a few times and it was pretty fun but hard as hell to figure out the first time. Yesterday I got to really get into it and all I can say is it is an absolute blast to ride! It is just like surfing or snowboarding, you can totally carve on it like a surfboard. I have a feeling that my surfboard "pumping" skills will be quite a bit better this season after riding this for almost an hour yesterday. You can even ride it up hill with both feet on the board, you just "pump" your back foot like you do a surfboard and you gain a ton of speed and then start carving back and forth and make it up a pretty good size grade!

Does anyone else on here have one? Any tips? At 33 years old I don't expect to be doing ollies or anything like that but I am definitely enjoying the carving aspect of it. Also, it's great exercise too! My hips and legs definitely got a workout!

All of my neighborhood kids have one. They seem like great fun. My problem is that I am sitting in here on my duff instead of outside beating up one of those 12 year olds so I can take his Ripstik.
        Be excellent to one another.

I got one for my 9 year old son and we both ride it. He is an ace, and I've got it down pretty good, but my guess is that the key to helping us with our wakeboarding is riding it with our weaker foot forward. Everytime I get on it now, I try to do it with my right foot forward vs. my strong side being left forward.

What is the diffeence in a "ripstick" vs. a regular wake board?
            Pics, info?

It's like a skateboard, but only has one wheel on the front and one on the back, requiring a ton more balance.

Although, it might be more challenging in the water!! Might have to take the wheels off though...

You laugh, but my kids actually tried to ride their skateboard deck behind the boat...one of them actually managed to get it to plane out before falling.

All the kids in our neighborhood got one for X-mas. They love them. Of course the kids picked it up right away and can do some amazing things on them. Me on the other hand, well let's just say I am still in the "learning" mode. It's tough when you get "owned' by an 8 yr old.

On another note, they can be dangerous. One of the kids in the neighborhood broke his arm on Saturday when he fell off his. Of course, what is not dangerous any more. It's all part of being a kid.

Got my three kids ripsticks for x-mas. they never seem to go a day without riding them. they have made some pretty cool obstacle courses to ride them through even with a 4 foot ramp to ride up and down. At 41 I am even addicted, Its a blast! If ever I get a turn. I highly recommend giving it a try.
