    Bummed Out.....

It was 72 today in Denver, and I thought I'd have the chance to take out my new boat. I spent time talking to the dealer to find out where all of the drain plugs are, and spent time finding them before I headed out, we even stopped to pick up some lunch so we could have lunch on the lake.

Well, we got to the lake, and 1/2 of it was still frozen. I didn't even think it was cold enough for it to freeze this year, let alone still be frozen on March 1st.

So, we headed back, and spent about 2 hours cleaning it really well. It got very dirty on it's trip home.

Who knows when it will be this warm on a weekend again, but hopfully next time the lake will be usable.

Timmy - What lake do you use for your boat? We tried Cherry Creek yesterday, and I was suprised it still had ice on it. We normally go to Sloans.

And this snow today is crazy. Only in Colorado!

This time of year - NONE of them! We normally go up to Horsetooth Res on the weekends or Boyd Lake in the weekday evenings.

Buffman - What about you? What lake do you use?

I would love to find a private lake, that didn't cost a fortune, and was towards the south end of the metro area.

Are there many other Denver area users on this board?

Ahhhh. I miss Sloans gooo. Now I have the Willamette river gooo, same stuff just more of it. If they dredged Sloans to make it a full 6' deep (minimum), it would be awsome. I have hit bottom a couple of times hydrofoiling there.

Yeah seems to be a few on here and really nice too.

Well this is my first boat (Z1) but owned jetskis forever....

We live right next to Chatfield so will definately hit that on weekday evenings (never on weekends as it is toooooo crowded).
Also this year planning as follows:
Jackson Lake, Guernesy (wyo), Powell, Green Mtn Res, Blue Mesa and Mollie B.

Welcome to the board and look forward to meeting ya someday...

Agreed asn or Timmy what is the story with Sloans Lake?
I have never been on it. Is it worth it? Crowds? Cost?

Sloans Lake - about the size of a Walmart parking lot. 3.5' of water, 1.5' of this crazy mud suspended in water (consistancy of tomato soup-"goo"), then 2' of thick mud.

Kind of socially interesting in that there are $50K boats cruizing around on a lake with financially lowerclass fishermen drinking 40ozers on the shore... If one of my wifes friends, or my mom, met us after work and we didn't get off until after dark, she would always get walked to her car!

Upside: 9:00am-11am & 5pm-dark glass on any weekend! Glass all day during the week. No tubers! No jetskiis. $200 if you are a Denver resident!

I've only been on Sloans lake once and it was nice. I think it's $400 a year for a pass but I am not sure how busy it is. We like to wakesurf too much so Sloans isn't an option for us, it's really 4'-6' deep for most of the lake! bsnook212 is really the man to ask, he goes there pretty much every single day during the summer. I think he wound up with 150+ hours on his boat this year and the majority was from Sloans which as you may know takes about 3 minutes to make it all the way around!

There's also Tige Lake, err I mean Standley Lake but I think it's too late to get in the lottery for there... Bill at WWS told me there is a crazy amount of Tige's on Standley.
