They (boating industry) does say they will last for 200 hours but you hear of claims that they only lasted one or two season. IMO, you are running the risk of the impeller breaking up the longer you use it. Once it's broken and you are on the lake, GOD forbide that you get pulled into the docks by a Malibu

Actually, it depends on where you are. If you don't use it all that often and it sits, it's actually worse. We use our boat about 100-200 hrs. a year. I change mine every 2 years whether it needs it or not. I've only had one failure and that's when I sucked up a bunch of debris and my impeller was 3 years old.

My dealer recommended the every other year schedule and keeps track of that for me. It's worked out great so far!

You can get a sea strainer, but if your lakes are pretty clean than it's overkill. I'd rather have the extra water flow going through my engine.

I hear you and it's all personal taste IMO. When I bought my boat, I went two seasons without changing it. This season, I don't want to take the chance but I don't know about next. I alway recomment every year because it's a little bit safer percentage wise.

We have had boats that have never needed them replaced (even run without water) and others that fail frequently (never run without water). The only consistency that I have seen is that you never know! With that said, I replace mine annually.

Please mark me down for a couple for the MP 340 Hp. I am interested in the Globe, if the price is not high.

            Thanks for putting this together.

                    SPBFAN,

You should do a group buy for ballast system parts. Would that interest you SPBFAN?

That's the whole raw water pump asm. What Timmy posted is the rubber impeller that needs changing inside the pump.

Is it here where the impeller goes?
