Yes, buy an extra for the boat just in case. Some people use the old one for their backup since it should get the job done just in case the current one fails.

As for replacing, some have done it within 20 minutes and other have taken an hour. IMO, it's a pain in the arse so I have my dealer do it. However, since you will be boating at Powell once in awhile, I would suggest you learn how to do it. My lake isn't big enough to dictate me learning how to change it since I do boat with others that have boats on the lake and if needed, I can call them for a tow

Or you can call friends on the lake to provide a tow back to the dock.

Is there a thread here that teach us how to change the impeller?

I'm in a 315 Merc MPI. I'd be interested, although I usually let the dealer do mine on a regular basis. I'd be keeping it as a back-up.

There were a few that I found when i searched. However, haven't found one yet for the MP motor.

However, I think that is the short version of the process.

How much does a new impeller run?

                                Thanks.

I am surprised they go out after a year or so of operation but most definetly I will get a spare. I had an optional intake filter put on and I am wondering if this will help?
