I was there a couple of time a few years back. The water level was a bit low and a lot of soft sand all over. We stayed at Van's http://www.vanslakeview.com/
For $10 a day they put you into the water and out with a very large 4 X 4 Tractor type of vehicle. The lake was nice but watch out for sunken stumps and shallow areas and the wind

How do you watch out for sunken stumps????? Not being a smart-azz, seriously--is there a way to tell they're there?
These were mainly towards one end and it is where they cut the trees off years ago thinking the water was not going to get low again. Well it did. You can actually see them just below the water level when we were there.
Sand in your crack @ Big Mac
We went there every year....and every year it got worse.
I would still go back but it gets crazy winds. But it is truly a big lake and the sand is awesome. We tent camped allthe time right on the shore...but now with the little kids and the 5th wheel we havent been as I dont wont all that blowing sand in my nice big camper. ha
