            sound quality

Do you lose any sound quality playing music through the auxiliary connection?

Not really, you just lose the ability to control the song selection on the iPod from the HU and, in most cases, the ability to charge your iPod while playing songs on it.

I don't know if the Harmon KArdon controller has been mentioned (too lazy to read through all the posts) but it solves the connection/charging/control issues entirely. It's also pretty cheap.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I think it sounds every bit as good as my CD player does.

The next problem you will have is with the AUX sensitivity. In the owner's manual for the Clarion is a section that will describe AUX sensitivity, and you want that to be on 'high', or it will sound OK, but not be as loud as your CD's.

Installation of it is on my "spring project" list, it's sitting in my bedroom reminding me everyday that winter sucks azz.
