IPod Connection

I know there is a connection for ipod/mp3 somewhere behind the clarion head unit but have had trouble locating where it is. I have an aux cord that I use to connect my ipod to a radio and I was under the impression that's all I needed. Please help Any pictures would be great, too! This is on our new 07 22I.

That will work with our HU, but I'm not sure what benefits I will have if I get one. Maybe you can explain it to me. 20 bucks isn't a bad price, so I might be interested in buying it from you.

The downside to the cenet unit is that you have to divide what you want to play off the hu into 5 playlists because it is basically emulating the 6-disc cd changer that can be hooked up. The 6th playlist is automatically assigned as a playlist that starts at the alphabetical beginning and plays through every song on the ipod. The aux in will either be a red/shite rca input directly on the back of the hu or a short lead with a rca input. If you can tell us exactly which hu you have that will help. Clarion is decent about putting up manuals on their website that will have a diagram of where to plug in. Do you have an amp, or two hooked up? If so, it will be in a similar place to where the rca outs are on the back of the hu, don't mix up the two, it shouldn't damage anything but just better not to mix them up.

Head unit

I have found 5 RCA hookups from the back of the head unit that aren't connected to anything, but our aux cord won't plug into any of them??? We have the Clarion head unit that has an aux input. It has MP3 printed on the front of the head unit.

yes, one end plugs into the headphone slot on the ipod and with our old boat, I plugged the other end into the aux. slot on the sony head unit.

You have the wrong cable.

The Aux cable that you need will have one end that goes into the headphones of the Ipod and the other end will have a red and white RCA jack on it.

You have a cable that has both ends that look like the headphone jack, right? Most cars that have an input have a headphone 'in' jack. The clarion has RCA jacks. I think if you look carefully, you will find that a pair of the red and white jacks on the back of the head unit will be labeled 'Auxillary input' with a white tag.

And just needs to find the plugs and plug them in. Then he can use the cable he has in and can control it from the drivers seat.

Thanks for the pics..........that helps to get a visual!! when you are saying "you can control it from the drivers seat" do you mean that your ipod will be plugged in there at the drivers seat?? Or can you control the ipod from the actual driver remote?? if i'm understanding correctly, the only way to control the ipod or mp3 players from the drivers remote is if you have the cenet interface.

You said you have an input under your steering wheel which is probably compatible with the cable you already have. There has got to be a cable coming off that input and you just need to find it and plug it into where talltigeguy stated. This way you can utilize everything you already have and you will be able to control the ipod from the drivers seat, not with the stereo remote, with the actual ipod.
