I love my PCM and 45 MPH is not hard to pull in my boat on a smooth lake. If I change the prop it will rip your arms out coming out of the whole. the PCM is very easy to work on and looks very nice under the hood also. It just looks more classy than the Marine Power in appearance and it idles way smoother than the MP does and has a smoother power band on it. MP seems to be fairly reliable though. I do have to be honest. I was sold on my boat because it had the PCM otherwise I might have kept shopping for boats.

I wish TIGE' would go back to offering the PCM as an engine. Infact I wish they would make it there standard engine.

My pop has a MP big block with twin Banks Turbos on it he traded dirt for (literally). It was built by Headman brothers in Baton Rouge I think???? Number on the block was looked up and he was told it crank dynoed at 920-ish horse. He was going to drop it into a early 70's c-10 sleeper.

The only problems we see with pcm is they are behind in the power and fuel technology because they stayed with Ford motors long after everybody switched to GM . We also have had trouble with their cooling system layout on several of the CC .

If you're not getting your Marine Power Warranty card or other Marine Power correspondance,, it's probably sitting in our mailbox.
We realize this can be important to folks getting warranty issues resolved.

We have finally been able to contact Marine Power, we're sending back all mis-directed Marine Power mail to them promptly,, same day.

I never got any card from marine power. Do you have their contact information?

My dealer filled mine out for me... I received a warranty card from them a few weeks ago... Actually I received two on the same day, one from my sunken boat which was purchased in August and one from November. So that tells me they're a little behind...

Doesn't come on all engines, or even on all Sport Pac engines. I don't have dual filters on mine either.

This is very surprising to me. I have had 0 Zero problems with mine and it has plenty of power. Not only that it seems to idle smoother, and get better fuel mileage. The closed loop cooling systems has given me no problems but that may be contributed to the fact that I flush the system on a annual basis. I don't care what the MFG says they say it only needs to be done so many hours of operation. I have the equipment so I flush it annually at the start of every year and put in new coolant with alkali inhibitors.

I didnt say that PCM is a bad motor I said they are not up to speed with Marine Power when it comes to performance and fuel economy. We work with all the brands on a dailey basis, including my ski team boat which is a marine power 6.0l . There is a couple of reasons for the lack of power and fuel economy, they dont know how to run their cooling system properly so they ratio drive their water pump to push more volume through the heat exchanger, this uses more hp, next inorder to make their engine smaller in size they moved the ignition coils and made the exhaust manifolds smaller, which inturn effects performance , and last they are not running the same calibrations in the software because they are not on board with GM like marine power. This is why you will see different power ratings on PCM versus Marine Power for the same size engines. As to fuel economy on your own boat tige hull desigh has a lot to do with that , but I can assure you if you did a comparable tige with a 6.0l , you would see higher performance and better economy.

On my ski team boat , which runs a wide spectrum of power bands up and down due to barefooting and other large loads I continually burn 3gph , all of my competitors brands CC with the same power plant burns 8 to 9 gph, doing the same pulls , and they have issues in tournament with the cooling system and premature impellar failure.

I was just saying that I have had no issues with mine. I am not saying there is no issues. I am sure there are issues because the last time I checked they are build by these imperfect things called Humans. I am certain that MP has there issues also and I know I have seen them on this board.

FIC I have a question for you since you also service CC and you have seen a lot of PCM's. How many PCM's have you seen come in with thrown Rod's, Burned up piston rings, or just flat out blown engines? I am just curious. I am not trying to be a smart alic by any means just trying to grow my knowledge basis about the PCM product a little more. Thanks in advance.

They also note closed water cooling, but not all boats have it.

It's an option. Tige' orders the engines to fit a certain spec. I am sure if you order one, it comes with it unless you opt to leave it off.
