I read somewhere that it takes 100gal of water to produce one gallon of Corn Ethanol.

We also forget that in the 70's we were freaking out about an Ice Age. Yep folks in 30 years we went from Lake Powell being a glaicer to dry from heat. Follow the money guys, there will be the answer.......

However I had quit a bit of training growing up with a father that was very well versed in this stuff. He was an Electrical Engineer on the B2 Bomber and automotive was a cake walk for him. Not as easy for me that is why I attended UTI. Then when I arrived I found out that I needed to be challenged and pushed a little harder. I think I might of gained a little more from the marine program but not sure. It defiantly is a very fast introductions into the industry. I just feel there is a more cost effective way of going about it now days, plus in the long run it will give you an education with flexibility beyond the automotive training.

With UTI you walk away with automotive, Diesel, & Marine certifications and that is it. What about the core education English, Math, Reading, Business, Business Law, there is a whole lot more to this industry these days and if you are going to advance in it you need a little more than automotive certifications. Yes I left the school an ASE Master Technician and I am sure I would not have done that with out the education but again I say there is more than that need today and IMPO there is a better way. Doing what I do in the industry on a daily basis I see it and talk to a lot of co student from UTI that say the same thing. Last year I talked to and put on training classes for 4,000 technicians all over the united states. I here the same story every where. It never changes.

Am I reading this right, you went through the Marine program in Orlando FL also? I'ld love to do it but 12+ months away from home is a little long for me

Right before I left, they rolled out a class designed to address the very things you speak of. It was a Service Consultant coarse that got into things such as customer relations, manors, hygiene/grooming, people skills, listening, fixed ops, forecasting, hiring/firing. You came away with a basic knowledge of what it takes to be in a Service Management position.

No I did not go through the Marine program I wish I would have. I might have gained a little more from that than I did from the automotive program. I am sure they are growing and expanding. From what I hear it is now 27,000 to go through the auto and diesel program. I paid 6,500 back when they were at the old campus in Phoenix AZ. that was 14 years ago. It most defiantly is a school for those kids who will never survive in a University or College. I was visiting the new campus last month for work training the teachers on some new diagnostic systems in Phoenix. It was kind of fun to be training the guys that trained me. That campus in fairly new and way better than what I had to attend at.

It is good to hear that they are expanding the curriculum to cover some of those issues as they are so important for the students to be able to expand there careers as they move forward and gain real world experience.
