Are you serious? Do you realize that the first diesel engine ran off of peanut oil?!?!? Why use fossil fuels when you can grow your own...

What percentage of Bio was used, i.e.- B5, B10, B20 or pure vegetable oil? Was is a vehicle with emissions equipment and a DPF (diesel particulate filter)?

Just curious because you've given no basis to your testing.

Well, the previous peak in global temperature was back in the Renaissance era. There's a strong correlation between global prosperity and warmer weather.

As for the science project we used DOMZS06 truck. We made the bio diesel in our kitchen. Yes my wife wanted to kill me but hey what are kitchens for? Besides it was a science project right. Anyways it probably was not a real good study but a great science project for a twelve year old at the time. If we used the right stuff and made all the changes it might have been cleaner. Plus the little bit if fuel we tested was it actually a good reading? I am sure it was not a true reading. It may have been cleaning the inside of Domz truck engine thus raising the readings.

What 5 gas did you use? Most dont like to probe diesel. When I was teaching at NTI (UTI's NASCAR Tech) I had 2 students take it upon themselves to to probe their diesel. While it burned very clean; low HC's, no CO's, no NOX, it did cost the school 4k to fix the machine after that.

The biggest emission from diesel is Particulate Matter (Carbon dust) and Sulfur. Both of which have been addressed heavily over the past 10yrs.

From what I've read from the EPA, Sulfur is eliminated, HC's dropped 67%, CO's dropped 48%, Particulate Matter dropped 47% with the use of BIO over Petroleum Diesel. NOX is a caused by heat and can be reduced by tuning and the addition of a catalytic converter.

In my professional opinion, BIOdiesel is shaping up to be a clean alternative to pump diesel.

And as for E85, the main problem with the E85 cars is that they have to be tuned for regular gasoline and E85. If they were just tuned for E85, you would have the same horsepower (possibly more) than what gasoline cars are getting even though it has 25% less energy content. They can tune an E85 car to run crazy amounts of ignition timing (and turbo boost if available) due to the 105 octane rating.

Race cars use Ethanol and do just fine! The Model T was the first "flex fuel" vehicle, Henry Ford had it running off of Ethanol. So, I think it's funny that 100 years later we are back to the fuels that others had already thought of...

um, lets think about that, how are you going to pick or harvest the peanuts? With a tractor on diesel.

Ok, will give you that one, but how do you process the peanuts, with electricity, oh wait, where do you get that power from (Coal more then likely) wrong answer.

Ok so you say you wanna use it, well did you know that peanut oil right now costs more to produce then soy.

Did you know there are other things that can be used to create the bio fuel that have a much higher yield and the farm equipment could use that same bio fuel to harvest it? Did you know that Wind power is 100% renewable, free, clean energy that can be used to process the bio fuels? Ethanol is in it's infancy right now and I think you will eventually see that this country (the largest polluter in the world) will be moving towards other alternatives.

My wife is a 5th grade teacher and they studied renewable energy for 3 months... I had to help pre-screen a lot of videos and study materials. I could go on but so far you are only putting up the "standard" arguments that every non-informed consumer throws out. Hopefully you aren't taking offense...

I'm on my 3rd tank of B5 in my duramax right now and it seems to be going pretty good, mileage is the same and it's $.30 cheaper per gallon.
