    Gas Guage No Good =(

    Boat: 2001 Tige 21i

Does anyone know of a place near Austin that can help replace my gas guage or have any tips/tricks that I can perform to get it working? I know I have 35 gallons when full and have been estimating (hours ran x gallons used) to know when I am low....math teacher. But frustrating at times!

    Anything helps! Thanks guys!

can you give us some more explanation?

I know of a forum member on here that can get you a new sending unit if that's all you need.

If you want to take it to a dealer the Ski Dock service area is very good.

when you are floating idle on the lake, bump the boat in reverse for a second and that should level the gas out to get a reading.

Welcome to the site! If your gas guage isn't working, chances are it's the sender. I second the recommendation for the Ski Dock. Charlie York will get you fixed up.

Where do you guys boat in Austin?

Install a fuel flow meter and never wonder again.

does it work at all or never? The reason I ask is that ours wasn't working last summer, and I just took the wires loose, trimmed them, and hooked them back up. Worked perfectly after that.

                  Sticky Needle

When our boat was new, the needle on the fuel gauge would stick - sometimes full/empty/half/etc... Got a new gauge under warranty and installed it. No problems with it since.

Here is an easy way to test/diagnose fuel gauge and sender.

Thanks for all the replys! I will check the wiring first. I am not too mechanically savy so I might end up at The Ski Dock! I didn't realize they are Tige dealers! AWESOME!!!
This is my first boat to own and I decided on the Tige! What a great boat!

I bought it from the dealership (Texas Ski Ranch) used and didn't notice the gas guage not working until off the lot! Bummer! But one heck of a deal since they don't sell Tige's everyday! =)
Let me check tomorrow on my tige in the wonderful sun on the quick checks you all have suggested (raining today) and I will get back!
                      THANKS A MILLION AGAIN GUYS!

If your gas gauge doesn't work, 9 times out of 10 it's the sender. The gas tank and sender unit comes pre-assembled from the supplier. Since it's mostly mechanical, it's easily banged into the wrong condition during shipment. There's quite a few threads about this on most boat owners forums. It doesn't help that your boat fuel tank is much shallower than what you have in your car.
