How does the hour meter on the faria gauge work on an 04' 22V, or any Tige for that matter? It gives an engine hour readout, but where does it pull it from? And if the battery goes dead on your boat will it reset? I cannot imagine it would or tons of boat owners would have bad hour calculation on their boats.
Reason I ask, a friend of mine is looking at an 04' 22V and the seller checked his hours on the gauge at the dash it says 3 hrs. All three of us know that is not correct and neither my friend or I are close enough to check the boat out in person. Apparently the owner has had the battery go dead on his boat multiple times. The seller is a friend of ours, he is not playing games, he just does not know the boat very well. And I guess I don't either, I have the same boat (literally, the exact same color and year boat, funny) and I am not sure what would cause the hour meter to have what we think it a false reading. Or maybe it is a misinterpretation/user error issue. Thoughts?
