You could always add more weight then IN your lockers, or just feel great about having ballast and all your locker space.

From what I understand from my dealer, if you have the hard tanks back there, they move the battery and stuff into the bottom of your locker, but still less room than a 400lb bladder.
All the 22' and 24' Ve/RZ boats use the same 900#'s setup. 400#'s up front in a bow sac, and 2 250# hard tanks across the transom. This results in a about a 1/3 loss of storage space. Still plenty of room to store gear, or add more weight for boarding or surfing. IMO, I would rather loose storage space then loose floor depth with belly sacs. CC puts thier stern tanks in the floor of the lockers and cover them with a fake floor. This leaves you with only a 12" deep locker that is also WAY narrower the the Tige to begin with.

All Tige boats will handle choppy water better then any other tow boat of similar size, and even most bow-riders. Very deep, heavy hulls.

Like Rag and CP3 said, the RZ, with picklefork, and the Ve with porpoise nose, are the same running surface, just different top deck. The both handle great, and the 340hp engine is more then enough for them.

If you order new, I think you can get it plumbed for ballast, and leave off the tanks.

      Good luck

Not trying to hijack this thread, but do the rz4 and 24ve really need that big of a truck?

I mean I have never towed one, and I know SPBFAN uses a tiny little frontier to pull his.

Just curious as I'm looking at getting one of those 2 in the next yr as well.

I tow with a Ford Expedition. Not the biggest SUV but does pull the boat well. I am sure it would do okay with the RZ4 if given the chance.

I have a GMC Sierra, 5.3 litre, 2002, with towing package, 4wd. It toes my 24Ve, but I wouldn't want to use this truck to tow alot, and def not on long trips with lots of hills. Its a bit too much boat for the 5.3, needs at least the 6.0. We also have a Yukon XL 2500 4wd with an 8.1 litre engine, it toes it no problemo. My sierra towed my 20 and 22 ft four winns ok.

I took my 5.4L Expedition up to Ice House where the incline was 7% grade for more than 10 miles. Didn't have a problem but again, it's all preference and the gas mileage sucked .

y, my sierra towed it fine, even up hill, but it worked WAY to hard for my tastes, and way to much shifting to keep the power up. I would say the 5.3 I have is at the edge, and I would recommend something equivalent to the GM vortec 6L.

I agree, a larger engine would be nice. I did have to have the Expedition in low gears the entire way but still got 7 mpg.

I towed my boat with 2 different Dodge Dakotas for a while and they did just fine. Both had the V-8 and 4WD.

just my two cents worth; everyone's use varies, so my question for you is, how do you plan to use the boat? Do you go out in the boat for the day, or do you go out, hit the water, and then go tie up at the dock. I only ask bc it's a big issue with interior configurations. The direct drive takes up a lot of useable space if you plan to be anchored in your boat all day. That being said, I noticed you mentioned a slalom course. The direct drive will be better for that.
