1. Bull Shoals, Corps of engineers lake, nobody is around
2. Table Rock, A little more populated but still a great lake
3. Lake Norfork, smaller then the other two but still very nice!
All three are fed by the same river. The water is crystal clear, it cant be beat.Common Sense is not so Common
Looking for fat chicks for long walks, romance, cheap buffets, and BALLAST.

Table Rock will have the better resorts becuase its around branson and that whole area is a little more populated.
Lake Norfork has beaches at one end of the lake.
Bull shoals has campground at every town if I remember right. This place Theodosius was nice. It was big, had a restaurant on site, and would be great if you have an RV.Common Sense is not so Common

If you are looking for areas just as close, La has some too; though the water isn't going to be crystal clear, but it is clean.
South end of Toledo bend La side is awesome if the winds stays low. Plenty of marinas and camping (RV).
You could also travel to Kincaid Lake in central La, very nice park; there is also Red River and the famous Oxbow with the bar/marina that has cabins and RV pull-ins. We usually do 1 or 2 days at one, then the other. They are about 30-45 minutes apart.
I have also been on Lake of Ozarks, it is huge and choppy. Not much as far as creature comforts.
BTW it looks like we need to have a Gulf Coast owners reunion somewhere between us all!http://www.wakeboatworld.com

Oxbow is a great place....water is glass 90% of the time due to the shape and levees.

Here's an aid to find it. Bulow has a much better ramp and its a short run down the river.

Bullshoals is not as busy as TableRock because Tablerock on the Branson side is constantly being built up so from Kimberling City to the damn it can get very rough and the same thing in the opposite direction for about 10 miles.
Bullshoals and Norfolk typically have the cabins set back from the lake so you have to drive down to the docks. Bullshoals will typically have calmer water than the other two lakes and a nice (not fancy nice) is Black Oak Resort.
On Table Rock a Nice Resort (not fancy) is Lakeside resort set back in a cove off the main lake.
We are going to Blackoak in June and Lakeside in August with our new 20V.
I have been going to all three Lakes for as long as ZAD0030 is old and all in all I like Bullshoals for skiing, hydrofoiling and wakeborders. Tablerock is good for cruising until you get to a good ski cove then you are in heaven. Tablerock is the Largest of the three, then Bullshoals then Norfolk. They are all crystal clear resevoir lakes.
All three lakes have decent camping right off the lake real close to the various Marinas. Tent or RV camping is allowed. If you want I can get more info on any of the three lakes but search the net and you will find what you are looking for. Bullshoals is nice because you will see small Deer near the waters edge and up in the tree stands. Lake is nicer looking than Mead. I have never been to Powell so I can't compare. They are deep lakes harder than heck to fish but who would do hat with a Tige.
Ramp facilities at Bullshoals and tableRock are good.Last edited by Guest; 02-05-2008, 10:11 PM.

I am from Ft. Worth, and we took a group to De Gray Lake and it was great. Crystal clear, (unlike our lakes around here) and not crowded. This was a couple of years ago, but there were only a few boats on the lake all week. The lake was so clear, they have snorkeling excursions. We stayed at De Gray State Park, very clean and well kept. It is also much closer, and much smaller, than the northern lakes Zad was mentioning. They are great as well. Go to any of these and you will enjoy yourself.
