Tough Vinyl stains???

What do you use to get out your tough vinyl stains?

I have not been able to clean my boat for the past three months. Now that I have gotten to it, there are spots in the vinyl that I cant get out. some are like lots of little specs and in other areas it looks like the vinyl has gotten darker. any suggestions to get it back to new?

Try a soft bristle brush and good old Palmolive. There are some specialty products, but I always worry about their long-term effects.

3M makes a marine vinyl cleaner that works pretty well. You can get it at walmart

I posted this a little while back about some incredibly stubborn mildew in my boat. I had tried everything, including the 3m crazy expensive stuff, bleach water, peroxide ammonia mix, and oxyclean. The only thing that worked was comet spray gel. You can see in my pictures how bad it was before and how well it worked. If you find something else that works really well let me know.

I assume you allready tried a magic eraser?

I also used the comet on mildew with success before that I have diluted Tilex for mildew with 1/3 water, cleaned and rinsed right away. I too was worried about long term effects but its been 3 almost 4 years with no ill effects

Sounds like a lot of good suggestions, that magic eraser may help in smaller concentrated areas. I have not tried that on vynil but now that some one has suggested it I think I will use it on my next tough stain.

I tried removing a scum line from the top of my hot tub with several shower type cleaners, comet, ajax, bleach spray and I just could not remove it. My wife said why not try a magic eraser, I skeptical, I told her no way would that remove it, if all of the other cleaners had no positive effect. "Guess what?" The darn thing took it off, I was floored! It took some elbow grease but it took every bit of it off.

You might look into Meguires vynil cleaner, and I also like Spray Nine.

The magic eraser worked well on the oak leaf stains, but did nothing on the mildew.

Starbrite mildew stain remover should work on mildew. Just make sure that you use something like 303 protectant after. Good luck

I used MaryKate mildew remover (Boaters World) over the weekend, with a scrub brush, with good results.
