    Riding Speeds?

Got a quick question what speeds do you guys ride at? I'm starting to think my speedo is off. Cause we have to ride at 25-26mph to get the wake not to white wash. Mind you we do have like 2000 pounds in the boat plus people but only riding a 70ft. rope. Those are like Lyman speeds I wish i could ride a longer rope like 80 85 but I'm not riding at 30mph cause thats death.

I think your speedo is off. most pros ride at 24. I ride at about 22. My perfect pass on wrong but my speedo is right. I need to set it

For me it varies by boat and amount of ballast. I ride at 23-24 behind a MC 190 without weight. I think we ride around 25-26 behind my buddy's mobius with anywhere from 2,000-3,800 pounds ballast. I think this seems too fast, but it's what it takes with that much weight. I road behind a neighbor's Nautique 211, and they were shocked when I said 23 for speed. I slowed down to like 20-21 behind that. Different people like different speeds. Your personal weight also matters for this. I don't like sinking in the water when I go to cut. that's why I go around 24 behind the MC. A friend weighs about 50 pounds or so less, and he goes more like 21-22. I really feel like too much speed adversely affects my riding, but that's just me.

My older son and I ride at 23mph at 70 ft and 2000lbs balast with 3-5 peeps. Wake is perfect. My yonger son likes 21mph and at that speed I am right at the edge of washing out the wake if I dont dump some balast.
I did check the speed with my GPS and it was right on at 23mph and about .5mph off at 31mph.

I ride at 22 mph for wakeboard and 10.5 to 11.5 mph to surf.

try adding weight to the front to move the washing back, and use a gps to find and reset your perfect pass.

we've tried all different settings but seems the best at like 4 1/2 but doesn't seem to make a difference rather the taps is on or not we've set it at 0 or 1 and tried slowing down but still no good still white washes. I have ridin the boat with no ballast and can run at like 21 with taps at 7-8 and a 70 ft. rope i'm thinking that theres not enough weight in the front though. Heres the setup we ran today 750s in each back compartment of course they dont fill full and then two 440s up front filled completely full plus lead weights under the seats dont know the exact weight but think about 100 pounds total so idk what the problem is.

Could depend on the lake a little, if it is fairly shallow, as I know some lakes around central FL are, it can effect the wake. I would definitely try to get a gps out on the boat and check the speedo, mine was quite a ways off. The perfect pass was right on though and that's what mattered since it does most of the driving. Assuming you have Tige Speedset though that does not have a seperate reedout to compare. We ride slow, 19-21 with 1000lbs ballast and usually 8 people. Depending on where we are, saltwater, deep lake, shallow lake...the wake will be really different. Try more weight up front though as a start.

Yah we ride out in the St. Johns which is a good 15ft. deep so thats not the issue but more and more im starting to think its the speedo is off we have an 06 so no readout on the speedset. Going to get my buddies GPS out there next time to check and maybe try more weight in the front though we have slowly been adding more to the front cause i thought that was the issue its even to the point when you look from the outside of the boat at idle it looks to be heavily weighted up front you can see it slope forward.

FIC Are you in a 20V ? We have alot of weight up front very hard in a busy river to keep the front from getting water over it.

Beware using the GPS to determine speed if you're in a river where there is current...GPS measures speed over the bottom, not over the water, which is what you are looking for from your speedo. A 3-4 knot current will make a lot of difference.

I ride at 25mph no weight, and 65 feet with normally 2 people in the boat. I have a 22v
