I will probably add another surfboard rack this year.

BTW, for anyone whose kids also kneeboard, the Monster Tower surf rack is wide enough and long enough to handle a kneeboard.

I regurlarly have 4 boards in them, and haven't had either of those issues.

Based on posts on other sites, there are definately 2 camps here. Solid and love or not solid and issues with the inserts. I wonder if they made changes from the first ones made. Mine were some of the 1st ones sold.

My tower on my 24Ve is 3", and it was a pain to find. The DBot 5 racks def go up to 3 inches.

do the racks come off easily so when I dock i can take the rack off without having to worry about breaking the arms off if it hits the pilings?

The racks come off very easy. You lift one lever and the rack slides off the mount

Incredibly. I spent a lot of time researching. Basically, everything from dbot5 that mounts to a tower, comes in 2 parts. The mount, that has an outside, and an inside. The inside is done by you choosing one of 4 or 5 different inserts, depending on size of tower. I used biggest for 3". The mount than has a spline. The rack slides onto the spline, so you can rotate in like 10 deg increments. Which is great, because most racks, can only be in one or a couple of orientations. On mine, you will see how they are mounted on a part of the tower, that is not horizontal, or vertical. The spline allows you to adjust with many increments. To hold on the spline, is a strong aluminum lever, like what you would see on a mountain bike, to hold the seat spline/bar in place. This can be completely adjusted, so that the lever will hold it VERY tight. I think the problem some people have, is they don't adjust this, and so they flip the lever, and it still moves. But if you adjust the nut, it is very tight. We have had 2 racks, and had 3 boards in them all summer. To remove the rack, just release that lever, and pull the rack off the spline. The tower mount stays on the tower. Rinse repeat. You can even buy just the spline, with a bolt from behind. So you could mount on a malibu tower, or maybe in the powder coated support of the Z tower.

Let me see if I can find some more pictures.

Here is the clamp all of there stuff uses, you can see the spline on the clamp, and to the left, what the inserts look like, that go IN the clamp, to custom fit the width of your tower.



Here is the malibu mount, which is just the back bolt, and the spline, you can see what the spline looks like here, and with all the notches, you can angle the rack, just how you want. Plus, you can loosen the back of the spline, if you really want to adjust.



Here is the flag mount, I have one of these too. But on this picture, you can see the part that mounts on the spline. There is a locking release lever, and a nut to adjust how tight that lever works. It is all beautiful polished aluminum.



Well, its your lucky day, I just scanned my pics, and I found some close up pics I took of the racks on my boat. Excuse the fingerprints on them.











This one shows the whole fam, but you can see with a big landlock in the rack.

Would a kneeboard fit on those racks?

The racks I have are not the plate like yours but the tube. Believe me I have the lever as tight as it can go. I can see the diferrence, the clamp you have with the lever will fit towards the end of the spline. Mine is like the paw flag holder that clamps at the base of the splines. No matter how tight it is , it allows the board racks to shake. I have 2 big zip ties around the racks to minimize the shake.

So If you get the dbot5 racks get the plate ones like ragboy. I think they are on sale on wakeside. I think I am going to order one of those to see if works better than the one I have since I have added a few more boards to the arsenal.

I do like how they mount to the tower and the looks of the DBOT5.
