The rotozip will do that easily. If you don't have one, it is easily the only thing I have ever seen on an infomercial that was worth the purchase. I was just hoping for a fiberglass free install. $80 for the hole saw to use it just a few times seems to negate the point of having gotten a good deal on the speakers.

Can you mail it to me?

Tall, I bought my 6" hole saw for about 20 bucks at a discount tool supply.
I installed two of mine today. I used a Craftsman "all-in-one" tool, just like a roto-zip. I used a sararated bit and it took about 10 minutes a hole to slightly enlarge it for the Wetsounds.
I had previously inlarged the holes with the hole saw to install the RF speakers I put in last summer.
The install looks good, but should sound much better.

I ordered a 5.75" hole saw from this place: Industrial Supply Store.

5.75" sounds right. I used a 5.5" for the RF install last summer, not 6". The 650's are just a hair bigger than the RF's.

Trace the pattern and use a jig saw to follow the line. That is what I would use. The jig saw I have runs on air I bought it at Harbor Frieght and it is long and skinny. It is not like your normal jig saw. It cost $15.00 to buy. This saw would work perfect for that.

Anyways off to LA boat show today. I will take pictures for you guys.

Yes the XS650 are an oversized and overbuilt speaker. Sorry wish it was a drop in install. But the size of the magnet on this speaker and voice coil size is all oversized. A hole saw is one way and it looks like ya'll have found some cheap solutions. A roto zip and some patience works great. As most of the holes only need to be opened up a bit. As talltigeguy showed with the pic. You can use the template. Tape it on there and use a rotozip with the template as a guide. Just be carfeul to not cut into the template. It is thick cardboard and will work for a good guide.

What are you guys going to do with the tweeter hole? kinda sux the clarions im replacing are all white grills and the wetsounds have silver if i leave the tweeter its going to look like doodoo. do they sell a light or something that could take up that small hole or should i try painting the grills to match. i have a grey deck i was thinking of going black. what you guys got for ideas? yeah i measureed the template today and it looks like 5 3/4 in is what its going to be. im going the roto zip method. i think im going to make me a template for the hole out of starboard just dont feel the cardboard is going to cut it as a guide with the roto zip.

Tim how did you vent the passenger side compartment so you can hear the subs? I have mine in there but with the compartment closed its much quieter

I used the same vents that come on the front nose on the RZ2 and RZ4.

                              Tim,
I have seen some of your speakers with lights around the grilles. Can you expain how that is done?

                                Sorry, Still gotta get pics.

The LED rings are made of plexiglass with a thin smd strip of LED's. That sits in between the speaker frame and a custom grille.

You can contact David at Earmark http://www.earmarkcaraudio.com/insta...let-grills.asp

They make them and have the grilles in a couple styles and can do any color you want.
