    Thanks,

With all the crap being tossed at Tige about the fact that ballast is offered as an option and the misinterpreted statement "you do not need ballast", I wanted to know what the avg WW user is running?

    When I looked last night:
    32 post

31 were running MORE then the factory supplied amount, either factory + additional, or thier own custom equalling more then the factory setup

    only 4 were Tige owners

    1 running stock

    none running NO ballast

I'm coming to the conclusion that no matter what brand boat "we" buy, "we" are not happy with the stock ballast and will add to it. With this being the case, then how ever a boat manufacturer offers/markets thier ballast, "we" as buyers will upgrade it anyway...............so this makes any and all arguments irrelevant!

Nice thread. From a business point of view, I think the no ballast standard is not a bad idea. Anything standard you are going to have to back up with warranty. When people start adding crap, it's not going to be covered. I know, if it's installed at the factory, Tige is still going to have to back it up. I find it hard to believe that putting an extra 2000 pounds or so in is not hard on the motor and trans. I also question whether or not there could be some liability for some of the manufacturers. These things are not as maneuverable when they are weighted all the way down.

The good news about Tige and ballast is they offer the synchrotech gear reduction, as an option, instead of 1:1 it's 1.5:1. That helps alot if you're adding ballast. I asked the Malibu guys if this was avail, and they said "no". Not sure about the other mfgs.

Sounds like it is reasonable to assume that most serious people put more than factory in their boats.

Ha, you're assuming we're "reasonable." I'm not sure a that a lot of people would consider what we do (hurling outselves into the air time after time) as reasonable.
