I have another question about power? we might be getting a newer boat and have seen a couple of them we might be interested in? one of them is a 2005 tige 22v weith the mer. 350 315 hp. in it and the secound is a 2006 tige 22v with the vortec 340 in it. we are planning on running a good amount of ballast and mainly wakeboard. what would be the best aplication. our 02 22i has the 350 mer. in it now and when we load her down with 1500 lbs of water and then 5 people it feels like a slug. lol

Both engines are bullet proof but I think you will feel the Hp diff "in the seat of your pants". You could re-prop the 05 315hp and improve the hole-shot, but I think you will pay for it in fuel consumption.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I'm certainly no expert, but an extra 25 HP really isn't all that much. My riding mower has 19 HP.
In the racing community, that 25hp would cost you 25k in R&D to findMikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

i have had both and i was more impressed with the 5.7 340.. dont get me wrong the merc was a strong motor.. i just liked the other better... on that note..you guys that still have the merc i hope your ecu dont ever go out... mine went out last summer... i called every where looking for one and supposedly there was only one new one left in the us $1200.. i bought it, they say if yours goes bad now you have to send yours off and get it refuribed.. they said it would take 2 months to get it back... that would suck in the middle of july...

I'll second what oktige said. I've had both motors and prefered the Marine Power. Mine is an '04 that is ratted at 335 hp. I was told that for '05 they went to a darker shade of grey paint on the motor and upped the rating 5 hp. My point being that I wouldn't split hairs over a few hp, I think that the mfgrs play games with the numbers. But to me the marine power is stronger and I did have a few minor issues with the Merc, but not really a big deal. If you have a good dealer nearby, you should be fine. The other knock that I have heard too frequently about Merc is that they are less customer service minded. "We're Merc and we'll do what we want."

I really like my PCM in my TIGE' It starts ever time I want it to start and it produces plenty of power. I do need to possibly re-prop it for a little more whole shot but I re-proped already once to reduce the RPMs and increase the speed. At the price of props sometimes it is best to just settle with what you have.www.automarinecare.com CWB, ACME, FlyHigh, Merc Marine, PCM, Marine-power, WETSOUNDS, HSE Volume Controls, Kicker, Sony, Samson Sports, and many other marine parts or accessory's.
